Zephyr Teachout endorses Bernie Sanders

Zephyr Teachout

From Wikipedia: "Zephyr Rain Teachout (born October 21, 1971) is an American academic. She is an Associate Professor of Law at Fordham University. In 2014, she ran for the Democratic Party nomination for Governor of New York, losing to incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo. In July 2015 she was named as CEO and Board chair for the US-based anti-corruption nonprofit Mayday PAC, replacing Lawrence Lessig."

She announced that she's endorsing Bernie Sanders. Her reasons include:

1. Congressman Sanders voted against the Iraq war, showing judgment and leadership when it mattered, and has held consistent and careful foreign policy views.

2. Senator Sanders has been a leader on finance, supporting a new Glass Steagall and introducing his own bills to break up the big banks.

3. Senator Sanders has led the fight against the XL pipeline, and for wind, sun, geothermal, and all renewable sources of energy.

4. Congressman Sanders opposed NAFTA, and has been a leader in the opposition to the TPP.

She ran against the incumbent Andrew Cuomo for governor. Despite Cuomo's "shoe-in" status for re-election, she managed to get a surprising 35% of the primary vote, with almost no money, little press, and essentially no acknowledgement on Cuomo's part of her existence (he refused to debate her for the nomination). Considering what many liberal NY'ers feel about Cuomo, she's something of a folk hero. Her endorsement could help Sanders in New York, if he gets that far...

There's really only a few endorsements I would care about, one being President Obama's since he has a little experience doing the job at hand.

We'll exempt President Clinton from this particular dilemma, I think. And I won't bother poor President Carter, but if he'd wish to weigh in, I'd give a listen.

I'm impressed with her knowledgeable reasons for choosing Bernie and also by the fact that they represent his huge difference from Hillary. I had hoped she'd win the governorship of NY.

It is a very odd name, but how does my statement "mock" it? That would require: making fun of someone or something in a cruel way; derisive. I don't see the cruelty of observing it is one very odd name.

...did when Obama was a primary challenger to a Democratic incumbent.

In 2000, US Rep Bobby Rush defeated Obama 61% to 30%. (31 pt difference)

In 2014, Governor Andrew Cuomo defeated Teachout 62% to 34%. (28 pt difference)

He was too busy with his boys Skelos and Silver.

Gov. Teachout was all about ending corruption in NYS.

DLC/ThirdWay fucked with that election too ... supporting the corrupt candidate rather than the one out to fight corruption in this vastly politically corrupt state.

Frickin' prelude to their behavior on the national level.

BTW: "Gov" Teachout's doing just fine - thanks.

She's odd's-on for next gubernatorial.... while poor Andrew is trying to figure out this "crazed" , corruption- obsessed ( Like that's a BAD thing !) , US Atty. ( Preet Bhahara.).

"Will I be indicted?" "Will I be indicted?" "Will I be indicted?" "Will I be indicted?" "Will I be indicted?" "Will I be indicted?" "Will I be indicted?" "Will I be indicted?"
