It's the Holidays. The nation and world are grappling with a new wave of violence. So...

The primaries are likely to be in a holding pattern for at least the next month or so. Frankly, for all but political junkies (me and you) the primaries are just background noise right now.

The overall public is not closely following the polls, latest policy proposals or any of that. They're not intently waiting for the next word from, Sanders or Clinton or O'Malley.

Instead, they're more concerned with the tragedy of the week, the larger threat of Isis....and simultaneously buying gifts, making holiday plans...etc.

The candidates will continue to make speeches and engage in behind-the-scenes organizing and machinations. But Sanders is not likely to make any major inroads. Clinton is not likely to cement anything (although as the front runner it may seem that way). O'Malley is not going to make any dramatic come-from-behind surge.

So, while we DUers will continue to read every tiny tea leaf, and argue and do cartwheels over signs of progress from our chosen candidate, we might also try to keep in mind keep in mind that we're basically in a holding pattern right now.

Ideally, it would be nice if we cold also exercise a little seasonal "peace on earth, goodwill towards men and women" to those we usually argue with. That's probably expecting a little too much from a passionate cantankerous bunch such as us.

But perhaps its just a good time for an egg nog....
