Labor Secretary Thomas E. Perez, who has become one of President Obama's top emissaries to liberal, labor and Latino constituencies, is backing Hillary Clinton for president and plans to hit the campaign trail on her behalf.
Perez, who plans to formally endorse Clinton on Friday in Iowa, portrayed Clinton as a progressive fighter who can grab the baton from Obama and take care of the nation's "unfinished business."
"Progressives believe in making progress, which is why I'm proud to endorse Hillary Clinton who I know will continue fighting to ensure our children and grandchildren can achieve their highest and best dreams," Perez said in a statement provided by the Clinton campaign. "Secretary Clinton is tough, smart, and understands better than any candidate the challenges that parents are talking about around dinner tables and keeping families up at night."
Perez added, "In the coming months, I look forward to hitting the campaign trail to highlight the progress we've made as a nation, the unfinished business, and why Hillary Clinton is the fighter we need leading that effort."

(32,342 posts)Perez rocks, excellent track record. I had no idea someone in the administration would endorse this soon.
Seems even more likely the AFL-CIO will endorse HRC in Feb, when their national exec convenes.

Perez is the third Obama Cabinet member to endorse Clinton, joining Thomas J. Vilsack, the secretary of agriculture and a former governor of Iowa, and Julián Castro, the secretary of housing and urban development and a former mayor of San Antonio.

Hillary is no progressive. She is owned by Wall Street, the defense industry, and corporate America. If Democrats like the status quo that is failing in so many ways, vote for another Clinton. She probably can't do any more damage to our country than Bill already did with media deregulation, banking deregulation, NAFTA, and the 94 Crime bill. With Democrats like the Clintons who needs Republicans?

(12,882 posts)is how reality is spun here on DU once the Coronated One wheels around on one of her campaign proclamations and serves those who poured on the corporate cash - the "citizens" who could afford to attend that $33K-a-plate dinner a week ago. Suuurrre - suuurrre, those big buck donors have only the civic good in mind as they help a "progressive" into the executive suite.
When I was a wee one, green Kool-ade tasted like limes. But my how the limes have changed! The green Kool-ade the Democratic Party gulps down now is C-note flavored. And just like the GOP - the Dems know just where the biggest spigots are and how to make them flow. Of course - it's ALL in the name of helping the general populace don't you know! You Betcha!

(18,791 posts)how there is such blind marching for her. I'm totally disgusted with the blatant antics of DWS, the DNC and the old "1980's" Entrenched Establishment Turd Wayers.
The big money, big power, flip flopping, shape shifting, war hawking and hob knobbing with Banksters and billionaires...and supposedly she's for all the little people...it's a pitiful joke.
I still do not believe that she can win the general...those that cannot stand her will be out in force and the rest simply will not vote.
If she is in, we're doomed...Bernie is THE only chance we have to begin to turn around the mess we have in America.

(12,882 posts)And think about this..... There was that GOP memo that got leaked the other day - where party coordinators advised election hopefuls to embrace and emulate Donald Trump's seemingly outrageous stampede for their nomination. They've come to realize that the little folks are adoring Donald because he's distancing himself from "Politics as Usual". And wisdom-be-damned, it appears to be working.
SO..... whatta the Dems do? Party like it's 1992! And they've got their STAR quarterhack all primped and ready for the executive tiara - playing by a rule book the opposing team has thrown in the trash can. As much as I HATE to say it: Stoopid just might be the way to win! I'd tack on "God save us all" but I refuse to embrace stupidity in my personal sphere.

(2,570 posts)roasting her supporters after the fact may well be the only silver lining her winning will provide
I'm guessing it'll be much like the BHO admin -- a few gifts from the good cop when not playing the role of the bad one. It is truly a pity that history is gonna record the first black president as the one who let the war criminals off the hook, worked to enrich the moneyed classes to the detriment of the midle class with the TPP,etc, and so far, done a less than stellar job overall addressing and combating climate change.
