Related: About this forumBernie Sanders Calls Planned Parenthood Shooting An Unintended Consequence Of Bitter Rhetoric
"While we still do not know the shooter's motive, what is clear is that Planned Parenthood has been the subject of vicious and unsubstantiated statements attacking an organization that provides critical health care for millions of Americans. I strongly support Planned Parenthood and the work it is doing and hope people realize that bitter rhetoric can have unintended consequences." http://crooksandliars.com/2015/11/bernie-sanders-calls-planned-parenthood
Unintended, really? For such a smart guy that's pretty dumb. Sheesh.
Making false videos is Unintended?
Calling for the deaths of providers is Unintended?
Giving out the addresses of providers is Unintended?
Visiting them in jail to show support after the act is Unintended?
Really?
I hope they clarify that soon.

(12,958 posts)Judging by what you just said, you don't even know what 'unintended consequences' means. That's on you, pal.

(4,377 posts)You don't start out by directly attacking them. It's also worth remembering that even among hardcore pro-life people, the majority almost certainly don't support murder or realize quite how much they encourage these kinds of horrific events.
Eko

(4,377 posts)I mean if he hadn't described it as unintended, then it might well have come across to the pro-life side as an attack. I saw it more as an attempt to get some progress by making them think about the consequences of their actions without immediately putting them on the defensive.

(7,315 posts)I think he misspoke, and I hope he fixes it. I have commented on many sanders posts in favor of him, I am sure you somehow missed them. Fine, whatever, he is not perfect and while I think he is the best choice for president I get to critique him, of course here on the Sanders every day forum where he can do no wrong and everybody else is evil I can understand the blowback. I just dont have to sit here and pretend like he is. I have that prerogative. Unintended consequences is not a good thing for him to say. Dont like that I point it out, dont care. Want to argue why that was a good thing for him to say, I'm interested.

(57,349 posts)That wasn't so difficult, was it?
You should have just admitted that this was about settling scores in your op and saved everyone the trouble.

(1,681 posts)I thought one of the big issues certain people had was that when he's president, he wouldn't be able to reach across the aisle to get things done. So should he be calling them out as bloodthirsty killers, or should he be schmoozing with them to make shitty deals? I can't keep all the backwards logic straight.

(30,481 posts)I'm not sure outside of Sanders most die hard support that people really give him much credit for intelligence. He is a shrewd and competent politician when it comes to carving out a career for himself off the public dime with little to show for it. He is a career politician and being elected over and over again isn't a sign of intelligence. The greatest intelligence I have seen from him is how he is so easily able to drag LIV's around by their unquestioning noses. Other than that, not so much.

(57,349 posts)Can you guys choose one meme about his supporters and stick with it?
One day we're over educated upper middle class elitists and the next we're livs and "ignorant white trailer trash"*.
I'm never sure why I'm being hated from one day to the next.
* Yes, a Hillary supporter actually called Bernie supporters that.

(30,481 posts)Though I don't think you will recognize why. George Bush has the Ivy League education you are bragging about. Lol. The exact thought process I'm talking about. It's based in exceptionalism, not intelligence or reality. You nailed it and you don't know why. You also seem to have missed where I don't take issue with the concern the op has brought here. Seems to be a pattern of deflection with you. Bet it won't be the last time here you act like I support their premise. Just more spin from a Sanders supporter.

I knew someone would come running when the bell rang.
And also for answering the question: how low will you go?
Looks like the Republicans aren't the only ones using "bitter rhetoric" this election season.
I guess it's all about scoring points for some folks, the victims in this war don't seem to matter to them at all.
Either that or they actually believe Bernie and his supporters are the real enemies.

(45,319 posts)It feels like stone cold bias. He's a US Senator and you assert that he's not really intelligent but 'shrewd' in how he gets things for himself from others. It smacks of the brand of bias known as antisemitism.
Characterizations employing tired, old biased tropes. Not something Democrats should keep indulging in.
