I, For One, Enjoy a Good General Election Fight and I Say to the GOP "Bring on the mudslinging!"

Another highly rated journal reminds us that lots of people have attacked the Clintons in the past. Therefore, we are told, if we nominate a Clinton, the Democratic nominee will be the subject of vicious smear attacks....

Pardon me while I pick my chin up off the floor. By this logic, FDR should never have been nominated, because the GOP said awful things about him. And his wife. Over and over again. The awfulness did not stop, even after they were dead.

Oh, and they maligned Jack Kennedy. They still do. And all those mean things they said about Al Gore in 2000---if the man had not been so controversial, such a lightening rod for unfounded mudslinging attacks, I am sure that none of those journalists would have conspired with Karl Rove to label him a liar. What were we thinking, nominating someone against whom the Republican Party would lob baseless accusations?

How do we avoid this trap? How do we make sure that the Democratic nominee will be above reproach--and Teflon coated when it comes to GOP mudslinging? Easy. We nominate Candidate X. We refuse to announce the nominees name, gender, age, race or anything else that could be used against him/her/it----

Ok, enough sarcasm. I think you get the point. I hope you get the point. If there really are Democrats out there who are trembling in their boots at the thought of nominating someone whom the press and the GOP might choose to attack, I can only say I hope you find your spine before the general election. Hint: it somewhere behind you, between your shoulder blades. Politics is not for the faint of heart. And no matter whom we nominate, he/she or it will have to have a very thick skin and a proven track record of fighting back against the right wing conspiracy.

Now, go watch the Benghazi hearings again. That ought to reassure you that Clinton has plenty of Teflon.

Sorry, I don't want Teflon. I want morality. FDR had it. Clinton doesn't seem to. Live and Learn Nov 2015 #1

I will happily deflect any unwarranted attacks but Hillary's aren't always unwarranted. Her 'mistakes' count is taking a heavy poll even on Democrats.

FDR was just hated by the people you really want to welcome the hatred of.
