O'Malley: Trump is the Joseph McCarthy of our time.

'Democratic candidate Martin O'Malley used his speech at a campaign event Sunday night to chide the "immigrant bashing, carnival barker" Donald Trump.

"You know in another time, Joe McCarthy could look at a problem and spot an invisible communist lurking behind it," said O'Malley at the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Manchester, N.H., referring to Joseph McCarthy, a Republican senator from Wisconsin, who stirred anti-communist fear in the 1950s.

"Today Donald Trump blames everything on New American immigrants and Muslim Americans," the former Maryland governor continued. "Trump says that we should be monitoring everyone of the Muslim faith, keeping some kind of registry, maybe even issuing special ID cards," he said to a round of boos from the audience. "Let me ask you this: who's next? Catholics? Trade unionists? Artists?"

O'Malley said this is a familiar road that does not lead to a good place.

"Well Donald Trump, when you start your registry of Americans who oppose your backward unAmerican ideas ... you can start with me," O'Malley said. Loud applause ensued.

"And if you want to make a list of Americans who affirmatively and vocally reject your politics of fear and division ... you can start with me. And when, Donald Trump, you make your enemies list of all those who would put the interests working people ahead of the special interests of billionaires ... you can start with me," O'Malley continued.

O'Malley said that while Trump is compiling a list, the GOP front-runner can start with him on determining who will stand up to the National Rifle Association and fight for "common sense" gun safety legislation.

"And when you send your new security police out to track down all of us who believe that the Earth is actually round, and that climate change is real ... you can start with me," O'Malley said.'

While the democrats largely, outside of social issues, have become the pre Reagan Republican Party, the Republican Party is drifting ever closer to Uncle Adolph and his goose stepping horde.

It is scary that they get as many people supporting them as they do. I think all the time about this......what is wrong with their non rich supporters?

Things are largely falling apart and it may turn hard one way or the other; let us hope it turns the Bernie/FDR way.
