Message to Clint Eastwood

Mr Eastwood,

I've always been a fan of your movies. I think you're a talented actor and director. I do have a few questions for you regarding your recent RNC speech.

You said you cried when you heard there were 23 million Americans unemployed. (Even though the Bureau of Labor Statistics has the figure at 12.8 million for July, I get it numbers may not be your thing). But my first question is, did you cry each quarter beginning November 2006 when the unemployment rate was steadily climbing? Did you cry when Bush cut health care benefits for veterans in 2004? Or when he cut unemployment benefits for more out of work Americans than any President in history?

Did you tear up when Bush spent the surplus (yes, there was a surplus) and bankrupted the treasury? Maybe when he set an all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increase--more than any other President. Did it get to you when he was the first President in US history to attack another nation against the will of the UN and the world community, he was also the first President to run and hide when the US came under attack (not very "Dirty Harry" of him, huh?)

You also said that if someone is not doing their job they should be fired. Where was your concern when Bush's first year in office included more vacation days than any other President in the history of the US? In fact he spent 477 days on retreats at Camp David and 490 days at his Texas Ranch. That's basically one third of his two terms. I don't know about you, but I can't spend 2/3 of my 40 hours on my job and expect to remain there long, I think that would be considered not doing my job. Bush also set the record for the least amount of Press Conferences than any other President since the invention of TV, again I think this is considered part of his job. But I don't remember hearing how concerned you were about all of that.

You also admitted that you aren't too happy about an Attorney as a President. Did you rest easier knowing that GWB was the first President in US History to enter office with a criminal record? He even changed US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts. He actually set a record for the number of administration appointees who violated US law by not selling their investments in corporations who were bidding on government contracts. In other words, they were making money by the decisions made on their jobs. I would be fired for that.

I understand that most conservatives will argue that this is about Obama and Romney, this has nothing to do with GWB. I get that you guys all want to forget about the Bush years, we all would. But this is more about your fake concern about where things are going when the vast majority of you had no interest in the situation when your guy was steering this boat down the river. That's my biggest beef. You're worried about the budget, well it's a fine time to start now. You're worried about unemployment? How 'bout a little help, like passing that jobs bill 2 freaking years ago?

Sincerely,
Tammy

Not an empty chair; The Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison

There was a really good thread discussing this from a couple days back.

And Clint addressed the other Invisible President at the GOP convention, W. About going Afghanistan.
