Hillary Clinton touts economic plan, bashes Trump in Nashville
Hillary Clinton energized her Nashville troops Friday evening with a speech that played to the full spectrum of Democratic constituencies, making pitches to raise the minimum wage, combat climate change, pursue gun control and fight for equal pay for women.
The Democratic presidential primary frontrunner spoke for about 30 minutes in a packed old gymnasium at Fisk University, a historically black college in North Nashville. More than 1,000 people cheered her on and hundreds more were unable to get inside because of space limitations as Clinton implored them to send her to the White House.
At one point, the former U.S. secretary of state called out what she described as inflammatory rhetoric coming from Republican candidates following last weeks ISIS attacks in Paris. She singled out poll-leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, in particular, with a line that riffed off his campaign slogan: Make America Great Again.
