And it's too bad. He gave a very good speech, but for him to stoop to this kind of childish stuff his online fans spew really detracts from what he is hoping to accomplish.

(20,709 posts)A meme in Hillary-hating circles is that people only support her because they think it's "her turn."
For example

(30,439 posts)Hillary is running for President because she wants to be President, not because she thinks it's her turn.
I've heard people say that before...Bernie isn't the first.
What a lame talking point.

(25,253 posts)Why else would you think that as childish stuff lobbed at Hillary? I'm thinking he meant Jeb!

(36,926 posts)Although I don't think OP was paranoid. We've heard that enough right here on DU, after all.

(55,894 posts)It didn't make quite enough sense if it was aimed at Hillary.

claim. He could have referred to anyone as far
as I am concerned.
MineralMan
(146,317 posts)I don't believe it ever happened. It's her detractors who seem to be saying it, not her supporters. So, if you have a link, that would be great.

(12,655 posts)i do not think he broke stride to toss a slam at hillary. his entire speech was aimed at dismantling the gop talking points.
this is slimy dan merica's INTERPRETATION of the comment.
and lets remember, media wants views/rating/readers.
just more shit stirring from msm.

(42,862 posts)to take aim at someone whose poll numbers clearly indicate he's not a threat? Of all contenders, Jeb? Really? Right now, the biggest threat to his candidacy his Hillary, not Jeb.
Considering the prolific repetition of the "Hillary's-Turn" meme, it's difficult for me to believe that he (or his staff) would be unaware of it. It was a gag and an anti-Hillary "bone for his base" which ended up making Bernie sounding petty. It was an out-of-character throw-away remark, written for applause and laughter, that risks becoming the "big headline" and overshadowing and distracting from his intention.
(Hi again! )
EDIT: Judging from the reactions and comments in the Bernie forum, it appears that my opinion is not without merit. The intended audience understood exactly what he meant, and they're loving it.

(12,655 posts)since he is flaming out anyway. i am sure he and his staff are aware of the meme, but bernie is a really smart guy, and if it was directed at hillary, i would think he is smart enough to know that it won't convert a hillary supporter, and it won't convert an undecided. an undecided will go towards bernie because of his message, not because of crap like this. so your theory of a bone for the base is the only reason that makes sense. but now that his message will be lost in this war of words (cuz media love a good brou haha), was it worth it? again, he should be smart enough to know the answer is no. and he risks alienating supporters who are attracted to him because it was always his practice to stay above stuff like this.
i would love to see some for clarification(although i doubt his campaign will provide it), but if this was directed towards hillary, it was a total bonehead move. hillary gave a very statesmanlike address about isis, and although i think she will be too quick to move towards military options, the address style was professional and did not take political swipes. and the very same day, he presents a key address dispelling myths about the socialist bogeyman, and now THIS is what people will be talking about.
dumb. the moron who advised him to do this or did not catch it on edit and tell him to remove it should be removed from his payroll immediately.
if true, i am disappointed. and i HATE primary season. nice chatting again
