2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumCan I just say our candidates are amazing for not flipping on the refugees?
It'd be so easy to do a flip and no one would give two shits about it. Some might even applaud it.

(62,276 posts)There are some DUers who insult our candidates for this move, including those sporting Sanders' icons. See this locked thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027351860

(45,984 posts)They've always[/i[ been flipping off refugees, never flipping on that, Governor O'Malley only got it part right the other night. It's not just Der Donald who is an immigrant-bashing carnival barker. There's a whole stage full of them when the GOP candidates get together.

(25,699 posts)That's baseline shit. it's like calling them amazing for being mammals or metabolizing glucose. Support for admission of refugees ought to be factory default setting for any of our candidates.

(62,276 posts)But maybe the copy-testers said "don't worry, let it die down," I don't know.
This is a very polarized atmosphere, with all the major media outlets only focusing on the refugee thing, being sure to remind everyone that one of the attackers supposedly snuck in with the refugees, etc.
We have DUers, supporting candidates, saying it was a bad move, for crying out loud. It should be basic shit, no question. Perhaps I'm too cynical thinking at least one would back off.

(90,793 posts)....to get out of that hellhole and away to a better life. That half the governors in the country (and counting) want to keep all Syrians out because a few of them are evil, even saying they all should be subject to a religious test so that only Christians be admitted ... Well, as President Obama said bluntly, that is shameful.
