2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI've changed my support from an awful democratic candidate
to a perfect one.
I'm afraid I'm not showing enough contempt toward one candidate. Or enough cheerleading for another.
Advice is appreciated.

(11,833 posts)My primary interest here at DU is in finding common ground between the two - they are not mutually exclusive. I'm not supporting a candidate here for the primaries but will probably vote for Bernie Sanders. I don't think Hillary Clinton or Martin O'Malley are terrible people. My main buddies here are in the African American group because I love their fierce intelligence and great sense of humor. I also enjoy reading other groups here too, and sometimes post in them.
I don't spend too much time posting here in the GDP group because (as I was hoping to address in this post with some humor) it's usually too one-sided toward one candidate or another. I feel that's okay to some extent. Passion is fine. But being a jerk or making enemies online - that's not for me. Particularly because I believe we need a unified left to kick the asses of the powerful right wing forces in our country.
I hope that helps explain a bit what I care about. What issues matter to you and how do you promote those issues? Nice to meet you. Hope you enjoy a great week!

I try to stick to posting about these issues with well vetted, factual information for the people who don't normally post but come here to learn. I do get into the fray and do post about many things that concern me about Hillary Clinton as a candidate. Yes, she is much better than any of the GOP candidates but America deserves better than "I'm not as bad as a Republican".
For far too long corporations have pulled the strings behind the scenes in BOTH parties. That needs to end. Corporations will always have a powerful voice but they should not be represented disproportionately to the majority of the American people.
For many years I did not post here and came here to learn. I know well vetted, well sourced articles normally don't get much attention as far as post counts and generally sink but people still read them and become informed. It's important to post accurate information that helps people understand important issues that require critical thinking.
I use to be far more active in my youth but my life is at a point where posting here is about the extent of my involvement.
I am glad Bernie Sanders is a running an issue oriented campaign that helps Americans learn and understand what the benefits are for a single payer healthcare system, ensuring a living wage, and ending the corruption that permeates our political & economic systems.

(11,833 posts)With the amount of money spent on it we could have eliminated our deficit and probably gotten single-payer free health care for all. It kind of amazes me what people choose to spend our money and resources on. But I try not dwell on it too much. It pisses me off whenever I think about it. Worst U.S. foreign policy blunder since Vietnam, in my opinion.

(11,833 posts)You mofos deserve what you get! You deserve less than that! Jobs will go overseas without a lowering of the minimum wage! I can't afford to pay all you scoundrels enough to pay your damn groceries! Who do you think I am? Some kind of Mr. Moneybag? Work another job dammit. Heathens.

(3,431 posts)our species. However, I give you the possible alternative:
A) HRC comes with a lot of garbage, and is same old,
same old
B) Bernie is a "democratic SOCIALIST! The horror,
the horror!
Then you can look at O'Malley: younger, energetic,
former governor and: you have found your
compromise.

(11,833 posts)Maybe he should try as a campaign slogan: I'm not the other ones!
I'm probably going to vote for Bernie in the primary. I'll support whoever wins the nomination. If any of them wins an election I'll support them against undue criticism from the right and from others as well. Because, as you say, no one is perfect. Hope you enjoy a great week.
