'Republican Governors in 13 states have now called for the rejection of Syrian refugees

fleeing the very same violence we saw in Paris. They are rejecting our values in the face of fear & ignorance. Keeping America safe and staying true to who we are is not a zero-sum choice.' O'M

True, many are fleeing the terror. Wouldn't some terrorists sneak in with the refugees? patsimp Nov 2015 #1

Yes, but they can prevent any state resources being used in the effort. Kilgore Nov 2015 #4
Whenever there is resettlement it tends to go to specific areas. joshcryer Nov 2015 #5

We have to figure out a way to keep ourselves safe AND accept refugees. Yes, we can do it. We don't need knee-jerk responses.

My mother was killed by a drunk driver-and I am not working to re-instate prohibition, just keep people who have had too much to drink off the road.

This effectively constrains any real resettlement effort.

Burroughs with low rent, etc. The states in question can't stop people with legit green cards from having access to all state resources.

If some office worker doesn't do their job because the paperwork says "refugee: Syria" they lose their job. If a governor orders something like that lawsuits will reign hell fire.

I am watching coworkers of all political persuasions opposing taking refugees.
