Insiders: Bad night for Bernie

He will have time to bone up by the next debate.

Insiders: Bad night for Bernie

One day after the Paris attacks, Democrats viewed him as unprepared to talk in depth about foreign policy.

By Todd S. Purdum

Bernie Sanders had the weakest night of the three Democrats onstage at Saturday night’s debate.

That’s according to a survey of the POLITICO Caucus, a bipartisan group of influential strategists, operatives and activists in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada, who weighed in immediately following the second Democratic primary debate.

Nearly half of Democrats surveyed said the Vermont senator lost the debate, and only 10 percent of Democrats said he won. Those insiders who said Sanders had the worst night argued that he appeared out of his depth on foreign policy a day after terrorist attacks rocked France. He spent just a few seconds addressing the matter in his opening statement before pivoting to his familiar pitch about the economy, in stark contrast to rival Hillary Clinton, a former secretary of state who devoted her entire statement to the Paris attacks.

“He made a mistake right off the bat in switching from Paris to the economy, and had an uneven performance,” a New Hampshire Democrat said.

"He was clearly not comfortable discussing detail on foreign policy matters," agreed another New Hampshire Democrat.

Others said the self-described democratic socialist made no effort to appeal to the broader Democratic Party, and reinforced perceptions Saturday night that he is unelectable.........................

He'd get eaten alive by the GOP in the Gen Election.
Already, the vile RW hack, Peggy Noonan referred to Bernie as " being DAFFY" in his trying to connect ISIS & Terrorism to climate change.

Even though one can make some connection between the two, she called him "DAFFY" in the way he focused less on Terrorism & preferred to emphasize climate change as being an equal threat.

When Noonan goes after a candidate in demeaning their value, she holds nothing back & she is showing signs as to how they would bring about the demise of bernie.

"He's DAFFY" refers directly to his coherancy & state of mind. Same game they're trying to play against Hillary right now with her 2013 health.

The RW plays a cutthroat game of politics.Truth is irrelevant to them.
Just ask the Clintons.

The fact that he gave short shrift to the Paris attacks and then launched into the "income inequality" thing was just a sight to behold. Made me shake my head. Even the lone Bernie supporter at my debate party was floored by that one. Of course it jibes with the news reporting right before the debate saying his campaign was having a melt down about the change to focus more on FP.

Then he doubled down on climate change being the largest security threat. Then he apparently announced that he did not know we spend much more than $60 billion on antiterrorism efforts.
