2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWAPO-"Democrats l-o-v-e Hillary Clinton in new WaPo-ABC poll..."
Hillary Clinton maintains a big popularity advantage over Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.) among Democrats, but the former secretary of state struggles more with the rest of the electorate, a new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds.
Fully 83 percent of Democrats have a favorable impression of Clinton, compared with 54 percent for Sanders. And despite Sanders's ability to energize the Democratic base -- as shown by huge crowds turning out to see him -- Clinton's edge is almost as large on intensity; 47 percent see Clinton in a "strongly favorable" light, compared with 22 percent for Sanders. So while more than half of Democrats who like Clinton feel strongly, less than half of those who like Sanders feel that way.

Surprise, surprise, surprise.
How many of these threads are needed? We know. Hillary is their darling and they conduct poll after poll to convince us.
I conducted a poll and all my friends want Bernie. Polls are worthless.
---
Even exit polls are worthless now since how people vote and how their votes are counted no longer coincide.
We don't even have transparency in our "democratic" voting system.
Polls are trash and votes are suspect.
---
But that does not mean you should not vote - I'm not saying that - the only way to bring about change is to work within the system, no matter how corrupt.

(16,104 posts)Logically, what would we conclude about those who do not l-o-v-e Hillary?
Republicans? Not Democrats?
Just giving her a primary to "sharpen her skills," "move her to the left," "avoid the appearance of a coronation"? OK. Are we done now?

(15,438 posts)Hillary Clinton's public embrace of President Obama's policies and decision to expand on them instead of ignoring them, have touched the hearts of Democrats who want a presidential candidate who will continue President Obama's hard work for the country. President Obama enjoys an 83% approval rating among Democrats, higher than even Ronald Reagan's popularity - 79% - among Republicans at the same point in his presidency.
VP Biden had said at his speech...Democrats need to campaign on the hard work they've done. Hillary Clinton listened. Sanders and O'Malley have not. This is why she'll get the nomination, and when she does, President Obama and VP Biden will be out campaigning hard for the Democratic nominee, bringing along the Obama Coalition so that we may say after January 20, 2017, "Madam President".

(22,671 posts)for voter recruitment, so we can sweep the GOP out of office. It just takes more voters. We have that. If people would just say they'll vote in this election and vote for Democrats, positive change can happen before January 20, 2017.
COME ON, DEMOCRATS!

I think a lot can be done when Democrats act more like Bill and Hillary Clinton and confront Republican lies head-on, without mercy. That goes a long way in showing the strength of Democrats and leadership.
I also think something has to be done to snap the American voter out of their perpetual snooze. Only one tactic comes to mind.
Fear. Tell them something that will get their juices flowing and their legs moving. It's not a very nice tactic, but it works. Republicans use it with great success, but unlike Republicans, we don't have to lie. Make the case that Republicans are seriously trying to destroy this country and our government. There are many issues to choose from. Republicans are relentless at trying to dismantle the New Deal and any and all positive policy changes that's benefiting the average American, and they need to be exposed as the unpatriotic anti-American goons that they are.

(360 posts)That might be something to crow about except for the fact that of that 54% who have a favorable impression of Sanders, another poll found that 38 percent of Democrats Nationally say they haven't heard enough about Sanders to rate him in favorability questions.
That's not the case for Clinton. That number will change the closer we get to the election and then you won't be crowing anymore.
Then you have the fact that the majority of these polls use landlines, which most people under 60 no longer have.
And Lastly the most recent polls are already showing a marked Clinton dip and resulting Sanders gain, as we head into the debate tonight.

(99,710 posts)54% isn't 83%.

$500.00 says HRC win the primary. If I lose I will give the person who is so detached from reality $500.00 to do with as he or she pleases. If I win I will give the $500.00 I won to charity. I am not interested in filthy lucre or pecuniary gain.
Most credible pollsters contact landline and cell phone users, including the one I cited, ergo:

That's not what the aggregate polling suggests:

(88 posts)I just got back from volunteering for a week in Ames IA, for the Sanders campaign, and granted, it is a college town, 30,000 students at Iowa State, in a rural area, but I found lots of enthusiasm for Bernie, and lots of hesitancy in the voices of those supporting Hillary that I talked to on the phone. "I THINK I will vote for Hillary, but, I don't know, I am not sure she can overcome all the negatives about her" kind of comments. When told of Bernie's proposals, like free college tuition, or strengthening SSA or Medicare for all, their voices brighten and sound more hopeful. We're almost 3 months out, when a lot of people haven't made up their minds.
Remember, as time goes on, more and more resources will be sent to the early primary states. The region around Ames just went from 4 to 5 paid staff. There were lots of volunteers for the weekend of canvassing-at least 25 in Ames alone-2 of whom drove down from Minneapolis, plus me from IL, just to work for Bernie, and folks regularly stop in to phone bank and do data entry.
The Philosophy Dept. teacher I knocked on doors with, is an adviser to a Univ. Bernie group, and at the first gathering (he has been active in campaigns for 30 years) he expected 10 to show up and had 100 students.
There will be a Debate Watch Party in all 99 counties of IA on Sat. nite, thanks to the efforts of Bernie's staff. Sooooo, by the time of the caucus, despite the lack of corporate media coverage, Iowans will know about Bernie. I did see the Bernie ad on a Des Moines TV channel once, followed immediately by a Hillary ad, but I only had the TV on one day there.
I plan to go back in Dec. for a week if the weather allows, I'm 4 1/2 hours from Ames, and in the meantime, I post every positive article about Bernie that I can find to facebook, as that is where a lot of people get their news now. I don't diss Hillary and I don't do attack pieces on Repubs.

Hillary has a 51% UNFAVORABLE
to a 46% favorable.
Hillary's UNFAVORABLE is CLIMBING
since January 2014!
Hardly signs of *love* from voters.

Aside from the graph you posted
do you have any crosstabs?
What I've seen is an 83% based on 318 people
in another thread, is this a repeat of that same poll?
