Roseanne Barr 2012: Seeks Green Party Presidential Nod

WASHINGTON — Roseanne Barr said Thursday she's running for the Green Party's presidential nomination – and it's no joke.

The actress-comedian said in a statement that she's a longtime supporter of the party and looks forward to working with people who share her values. She said the two major parties aren't serving the American people.

"The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants -- bought and paid for by the 1 percent -- who are not doing what's in the best interest of the American people," Barr said.

p.s. A year ago if I had read this article I probably would have laughed. But I watched Rosanne's newest show "Roseanne's Nuts" (her show in Hawaii regarding her macadamia nut farm) in one of the episodes she gives speech to a group of young women and it was ONE HELL OF A SPEECH! Very thought provoking and serious. Did anyone else see/hear the speech?

But, this is bad, if it gets any traction at all. It's not going to be an easy election, anything that siphons votes away on the left is not going to help.

Even a few hundred votes can make a difference. Ask Al Gore.

Last pilot season, the major buzz surrounded Tim Allen and his possible return to sitcoms. The former "Home Improvement" star reportedly had his pick of projects -- and seemingly chose correctly, as "Last Man Standing" is a hit for ABC.

This year, the big comeback story could come in the form of Roseanne Barr, who is starring in a new sitcom that NBC just ordered to pilot.

The "Roseanne" star will play the lead in "Downwardly Mobile" as the "proprietor of a mobile home park and surrogate mother to all of the unique people who live there in a challenging economy," Entertainment Weekly reports. Much like Allen, it'll return Barr to her multi-camera comedy roots.

ROSEANNE: Well, I have this head shrinker and he says it's deliberately induced because the CIA is where they started inducing it when after they brought all the Nazis over from Germany to run American Psychiatric Association.

KING: What are you about?

ROSEANNE: I'm telling you the truth. It is all mind control and all kinds of things to invent people with multiple personalities.

KING: So you have been captured by Nazis?

ROSEANNE: The government. Well in a way, I believe the government has implanted some kind of a chip into my head where...

KING: Roseanne.

ROSEANNE: You know, is monitored by Barbara Walters and these other women. And they take all my ideas and I'm, you know.

KING: Yes, is Oprah one of the people monitoring?

ROSEANNE: Of course.

KING: She's definitely in touch?

ROSEANNE: Definitely. I think she sits with her finger on the switch to the chip.

Barr is not mentally stable if she believes this.

what she believes in this regard. Many liberals, and many people of other political ideologies, do believe in some crazy conspiracy theories.

She once made for good television and was gifted in that sense, but you don't need to delve especially deeply to discover that she has said and done plenty of things that lead one to believe that she is a a kook who couldn't even do the passable / poor but 'could be worse' impression of a credible President that a lot of modern Republicans seem to think is sufficient qualification for office. If you thought Bush was loud, crass and boorish, well...

This is a woman with a sense of perspective so out of whack that she squealed loudly that Obama lost every bit of her respect due to the fact that Beyonce rather than Etta James performed a certain song at his inaugural ball.

Please don't insult credible liberal politicians by considering this a serious bid by a serious candidate. Left isn't always right; there are wacky racers on both sides of the divide.
