Okay. I can see one night, maybe two, but do we need 4 days of speeches? Gone are the days where a nominee is selected at the convention. The nominee is decided well in advance.
So, what's the purpose of a convention, which are nothing more than both political parties selling their souls for corporate donations.

(15,189 posts)Just a waste of time and money. It used to give more people a chance to see the nominees, but we have TV 24/7 and the internetS. Newspapers used to give the info and pictures, and radio too. It was needed in those times, but now it's just a waste.

(3,747 posts)This isn't just about nominating a candidate.
The convention brings 50 state members of the party together to discuss and work on issues that the people they represent (through being the party members in every county) and they create platforms, committees and caucus' and create bonds through the party.
I've never been a national delegate but have been to state conventions and they are a great way to work with others to bring about the change we are seeking.
Every county has a central committee and a club. Look yours up and become involved. You might help change the world!
