this if probably going to get me flamed from both sides, but hang singly, we die

LOOK!
I don't like Hillary, that's ok, she's left of US center of political spectrum
I do like Bernie, he's very left of US center of political spectrum

here is my point
have you seen the opposition?
trump
carson
rubio

and we are fighting each other?
can we all spell 'we are too stoopid to figgure out how to win'?
can we all spell 'this is how we loose'?

i'd prefer Bernie or O'm to win, i'll deal with H
but fighting internally NOW only helps 'R'

so if you want to
cool, go join the R light crowd and jump up and down at being a happy looser!

hang alone, hang as a small group, revolutionize as an army!

There are various social and economic issues that drive both parties.

Just read, for just a simple Progressive view, Teddy Roosevelt's Osawatomie speech that Obama modeled one of his after. Without going into a political science breakdown of it's interpretation--suffice it to say that the simplistic chart provided does everyone injury!

Politics in the United States...

and Nate Silver is a Statistician...its what he does for a living...and not just for politics.....I think I will take his OPINION of the data that chart represents....and that is what it is based on their public record.

Can YOU name ANYONE who was to the Left of Bernie Sanders that ran for President?

That's what I was posting, not the antithesis.

I was trying to convey that Conservatives ALSO have social issues and Liberals ALSO have economic ones.

That crazy chart implies polar extremes.

Just because no one is left of Sanders, does not place him at the 100% left aspect of any chart, there is room to go!

I think that my favorite politican, Shirley Chisholm, comes close.

He's on the left, I'm right there with him...however many people are further left is irrelevant to this race.

Plus your chart is flawed anyway, if he's that far left, how could he possibly be to the right of Clinton on guns? That alone would mean there is still room to move left, but your graph doesn't allow for that.

We're the liberal subset of the political junkie population. We're the subset of THAT population that argues online, with the complete sentences, proper punctuation, and organized thoughts entailed therein. And we're the subset of THAT population that uses DU.

I'm not altogether too worried about the idea that we're going to lose any significant number of votes to this argument. President Obama did fine without the handful of PUMAs that flatly refused to support him, and Clinton/Sanders will do fine without the die-hard BernieBros/Clintonistas that blindly refuse to support our candidate in the general.

Nov 2015

She's very much to the right of Obama on matters of war and foreign policy, and I daresay she's to the right of Obama on economic policy as well. In her recent Brookings speech she vowed to govern to the right of Ronald Reagan in matters to do with the ME and elsewhere - or at any rate, she applauded Reagan's outlook and vowed to add more stridency to it. She vows to embrace Israel and Netanyahu ("Bibi", to her), the two of which she seems to identify, and to do a reset after the Obama setback, bringing her administration into solid Republican alignment. Exactly how is that different than Rubio?

She says that she'll govern in a "purple space" where her bipartisan skills will allow her to negotiate with Republicans, and all we see from her is how she likes to punch down. She disrespects "progressives" and brushes off concerns for economic justice, claiming instead to be a paragon for racial and social justice abstract from such inelegant concerns.

That's not "left of center" except in a wonky Alice in Wonderland kind of way.
