(15,369 posts)But while we're all waiting, President Obama provided some starting points in September that can help people right away. If you know people who are interested in seeing what they can do right now for themselves or their children/other loved ones, they could do worse than check out this website: https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/
Here's a write-up about the site and its purpose: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/13/us/with-website-to-research-colleges-obama-abandons-ranking-system.html?_r=0 And here's the WH Fact Sheet: https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2015/09/12/fact-sheet-empowering-students-choose-college-right-them
DU may already have posted something about this while I was off doing something else. If so, please just take it as an informative repeat. I just learned about it yesterday myself when I went in renew my US passport. The Consular Officer was explaining to a young American (now age 16) who had been born in the US but had left with her parents when she was two years old that, for any prospective children of hers to be automatically eligible for US citizenship, she would have to spend at least three more years living, working, or studying within the US before their birth.
The girl and her mother had automatically thought that the costs of a college education in the US would be prohibitive and were thus considering alternatives in Canada. The url provides interesting information about costs, financial assistance/grants, and degree career paths.
******************
The Officer also mentioned that the girl should be sure to have her passport stamped when entering or exiting the US because a stay of any duration could count towards the five-year requirement. I found that interesting.

Bernie Sanders represents what a TRUE DEMOCRAT IS.
And you know I'm correct.
Hillary is corporatist Bought and Paid for and if God Forbid she wins the primary and on to the Prresidnecy you will see the TPP,The Key Stone Pipe line approved,You will see banking regulations eased and in many cases disappear
She will fill her cabinet full of former Goldman Sachs People, and those from the oil industry and every corporate mafia group that gave her money will want their return on their investment.
Dont tell me Bernie Sanders dosen't have a track record protecting middle class America.

(11,014 posts)It varies with age group, location, gender etc. because the democratic party is a big tent.
I personally don't go for purity like some do. I would rather see a democrat in the white house than get a warm feeling of nominating an ideologue and losing. Ideologue sound good on paper but they are generally not electable unless there are extraordinary circumstances.
FDR was elected because of the great depression. Obama was elected because of the second great recession and smartly turned centrist so he could get reelected.
Things are different in the 24/7 all-news-all-the-time and social media era.
