Well.......this won't be good.

At the same time that Clinton's State Department was lauding Colombias human rights record, her family was forging a financial relationship with Pacific Rubiales, the sprawling Canadian petroleum company at the center of Colombias labor strife. The Clintons were also developing commercial ties with the oil giants founder, Canadian financier Frank Giustra, who now occupies a seat on the board of the Clinton Foundation, the familys global philanthropic empire.
The details of these financial dealings remain murky, but this much is clear: After millions of dollars were pledged by the oil company to the Clinton Foundation -- supplemented by millions more from Giustra himself -- Secretary Clinton abruptly changed her position on the controversial U.S.-Colombia trade pact. Having opposed the deal as a bad one for labor rights back when she was a presidential candidate in 2008, she now promoted it, calling it strongly in the interests of both Colombia and the United States. The change of heart by Clinton and other Democratic leaders enabled congressional passage of a Colombia trade deal that experts say delivered big benefits to foreign investors like Giustra.
The Clinton Foundation, Giustra and the State Department did not respond to International Business Times' requests for comment. Pacific Rubiales has denied that it has engaged in any violence toward union organizers.
As Hillary Clinton readies a national apparatus for her likely presidential campaign -- one that will surely depend upon the support of American labor unions -- her familys relationship with Giustra and Pacific Rubiales, her reversal on the Colombia trade pact and her subsequent move to bless Colombias human rights record complicate her efforts to present herself as a champion of worker rights.
These issues were amplified this week when the AFL-CIO cited persistent violence against Colombian union organizers in its push to block a new 12-nation trade deal that Clinton has championed.

(381 posts)I always liked Bill Clinton until recently. In retrospect he did not serve us well with Nafta, etc. Why don't more people question the Clinton Foundations role if Hillary is elected Pres? I can't help but wonder what they really have up their sleeve?

(18,791 posts)I guess I've learned a lot more than I ever used to know about the Clintons...and what I've learned over the last year or so, I do not like.
I don't want him anyway near the White House again.

(41,600 posts)Look how well, NAFTA worked out - we lost 60,000 factories. His welfare reform that sent millions of women and children into poverty. And his Clinton Foundation, I think, will be found to be something other than what it's portrayed to be....this Columbian transaction crap, as an example. I'd love to see a complete audit of the CF by an independent agency (if one of those even exists these days) and see what actually goes on there.

Just because you agree with the list of projects that the Clinton's use rich fuckers money for does not make it right, this is not how a just society operates. Corruption is inevitable when moneyed interests drive the bus.
I have voted for Hillary Clinton on three different occasions, you?

Julian Bond who lived in Chevy Chase was easy to spot too, another great public figure I was fortunate to meet twice. Arthur Ashe of the same era was also a noted black American from Richmond, like Va. Gov. Doug Wilder.
