Carson is my favorite for the Republican nomination

By my favorite I think he would be the easiest of the Republican candidates for any Democrat to beat in the general, Trump, Cruz, Rubio and even Jeb! would be more difficult. Carson's only real appeal would be to evangelicals and although they are a reliable voting bloc and a fairly large one they aren't enough to offset the voters who would be put off by Carson's blatant idiocy and his race.

So the way I see it if Sanders can simultaneously bash the media's obsession with personality and ever so gently promote the least electable of the major Republican candidates then it's a win-win situation.

3. I think pointing out how Carson's policies will harm everyone will stop some from voting for him.

The hard core Republicans will just double down on their defense in the face of media scrutiny but highlighting his batshit insane positions on issues that matter may influence those that aren't too far gone.

7. I hesitate to favor the worst of the worst.

I don't want anyone like him (religious zealot and possibly crazy) to ever be within striking distance of the White House.

Worst - case scenario: Our candidate drops dead the day before the election, and the Republican nominee sweeps it.

I would rather see Kesech (sp?), Christie, Rubio, Trump or Bush get it. If they won it would be horrible - but not the end of the world as we know it.

10. Cruz is worse by quite a lot

Carson is a clueless naif, Cruz is just as bad in the true believer category and far, far more intelligent and cunning.

11. I agree. (Which is why I didn't list him as an alternative).

Maybe the worst thing about Carson is that he is not only clueless, but he is very passive, and perhaps lazy as well.

He would let others come in and 'advise' him, much as Bush let Cheney and Rumsfeld run his presidency. In fact, Cruz would be ideally suited for a Carson advisor position!

8. He would be easy to beat (or easier anyways), but I think he has maxed out

Polls coming out in the next week or two will likely have him fading and Rubio gaining.
