Hillary Clintons anti-Sanders smears are completely out of control: Why her latest Bernie broadside is utterly hypocritical
Clinton is now suggesting that Sanders has a race problemwhich is rich, considering her record on the subject
Hillary Clinton has already used Bernie Sanders comments about gun control to cynically accuse him of sexism. Now, shes using his comments on gun control to imply that hes a racist.
There are some who say that this [gun violence] is an urban problem, Clinton said on Friday, speaking to the Charleston, South Carolina NAACP, in a clear reference to Sanders. Sometimes what they mean by that is: Its a black problem. But its not. Its not black, its not urban. Its a deep, profound challenge to who we are.
Clinton running an ad highlighting her support for gun control is politically smart given Sanders idiosyncratic record on the issue. But her willingness to smear a left-wing opponent is cynical and particularly remarkable coming from a candidate who has supported some of the most anti-black political initiatives of the past three decades.
Hillary Clinton embraced welfare reform, a major assault on poor people in general and poor black women in particular, and she brazenly stoked racist prejudice during her losing race in 2008 against Obama. She is also a very recent convert to the idea that the system of mass incarceration erected by her husbands administration is a racist disaster (and something, as I will explore in my next story, that gun control measures often abet).

There is nothing wrong with that statement.
You and other Bernie Brethren are desperate to push this racism/sexism thing. Get over it.

(22,892 posts)Clinton did not name Sanders. She never used the word racist. She was criticizing Republicans who are on record calling it an "urban problem." Calm down, guys! there's no "there" here.
