WASHINGTON (AP) --
Republican delegates will begin the roll call vote to officially nominate Mitt Romney for president on Monday at the national convention in Tampa.
Republican officials on Thursday said the formal presidential nomination would come days earlier than at previous conventions in part because of concerns about supporters of Ron Paul. Officials are also discussing the potential impact of Tropical Storm Isaac on the convention's timing.
Republican presidential candidates have typically been nominated a day ahead of their convention speech. Romney is slated to speak next Thursday. The three broadcast television networks are not planning to air Monday night's proceedings, beginning their coverage on Tuesday evening.
Paul was one of a number of Republicans who challenged Romney during the primary

They would need control of five state delegations to put his name in nomination. Last I heard they only had four. Could Paul have control of another state using delegates released by other candidates like Gingrich?
The story seems strange.
ETA Apparently Paul supporters kept under control. No clue what phrase means in OP.
