People don't seem to realize how fast the tables have turned against Akin. He's public enemy number one right now in Missouri and that was before the 10 o'clock news aired. (It was teased as the top story in the KC market.)

By tomorrow morning he might need a security detail to protect him. Even most conservatives believe in abortion in cases of rape.

When Claire's camp referred to him as "too conservative for the state" during the primary they knew exactly what they were doing. They hand picked him to run against her, knowing what kind of person he is and giving her a darn good shot at winning come November.
