“Did Hillary like all of Wal-Mart practices? No,” said Garry Mauro, a longtime friend and supporter of the Clintons who sat on the Wal-Mart Environmental Advisory Board with Mrs. Clinton in the late 1980s and worked with her on George McGovern’s 1972 presidential campaign.

“But,” Mr. Mauro added, “was Wal-Mart a better company, with better practices, because Hillary was on the board? Yes.

Tue Oct 27, 2015, 11:34 PM
Oct 2015

Some exec from Nordstrom was. Hillary served from 1986-1992. Walton stepped down as CEO in 1988 -- still involved on the board but technically not running the joint.

While Sam Walton was alive, Walmart had a "Buy American" campaign, but it was exposed shortly after he died that signs saying "Buy American" were on bins of Asian made products. Yet by 2005, about 60% of Walmart's merchandise was imported, compared to 6% in 1984, although others estimated the percentage was 40% from the beginning.[136][137] In 2004, Walmart spent $18 billion on Chinese products alone, and if it were an individual economy, the company would rank as China's eighth largest trading partner, ahead of Russia, Australia, and Canada.[138] One group estimates that the growing U.S. trade deficit with China, heavily influenced by Walmart imports, is estimated to have moved over 1.5 million jobs that might otherwise be in America to China between 1989 and 2003.[139] According to the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), "Walmart is the single largest importer of foreign-produced goods in the United States", their biggest trading partner is China, and their trade with China alone constitutes approximately 10% of the total U.S. trade deficit with China as of 2004.[140]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Walmart#Imports_and_globalization

Wal-Mart is virulently anti-union and Hillary didn't make waves. As I said, champion of the working man and woman, that's our Hillary!

And she worked for him during his Buy American lifetime--which, if you bothered to research, was that he STATED that he would not buy foreign IF US goods were available.

Not sure if you expect the board of directors to stock those bins you're going on about? Do a full audit of where everything came from in the few meetings they went to each year? Do you understand how limited the role of a member of a board is? How rarely they even meet?

She's said--long ago--that she parted ways with WALMART and she disagreed with the impediments the corporation put up with regard to union organizing, as well as their bad record on promoting women. She refused a campaign donation from them. What, you want her to keep saying it, over and over again? Do you want Bernie Sanders to keep repeating that he doesn't have the same attitudes about women that he wrote about in that stupid little essay that he wrote, too? How many times do people have to say something before it sinks in?

Clinton and her inner circle have many ties to Monsanto, and they are very cozy. Clinton pushed GMOS as SoS, and in otehr venues.

GMO's is a legitimate subject for debate -- opinions vary. But Clinton needs to own her support for it.

And, more importantly, her ties to a Big Monopolistic Chemical and Ag Monster like Monsanto indicate her worldview and allegiances.

She is totally comfortable with a corporation that is trying to fuck over small farmers and gaining total control (only a slight exaggeration) of many aspects of life and commerce. t is an example of the kind of corporations that we should be whittling down to reasonable size, instead of enabling their empire-building schemes.

EU Nations Ban GMOs

In addition to the glyphosate backlash, Monsanto has had to deal with several EU countries who have said no to the company's GM crops. A new European Union law signed in March allows individual member countries to be excluded from any GM cultivation approval request. European opposition to GMOs has been strong: Unlike in the Americas and Asia, where GMO crops are widely grown, only Monsanto's pest-resistant MON810, a GMO maize, is grown in Europe. Several nations have taken advantage of the new exclusion law: Scotland, Germany, Latvia, Greece, France and recently, Northern Ireland, have all invoked it.

http://www.alternet.org/environment/monsanto-suffers-several-2015-setbacks

A Harvard Kennedy School professor wrote a widely disseminated policy paper last year in support of genetically modified organisms at the behest of seed giant Monsanto, without disclosing his connection, e-mails show.

Monsanto not only suggested the topic to professor Calestous Juma. It went so far as to provide a summary of what the paper could say and a suggested headline. The company then connected the professor with a marketing company to pump it out over the Internet as part of Monsanto’s strategy to win over the public and lawmakers, according to e-mails obtained through a public records request.

Partially Debunked: List of Monsanto Employees in Government

If you want to make a serious critique however, I think there are things that could be said:

Hillary vs. Bernie on Frankenfood

How is Hillary personally involved in supporting big agriculture? The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), which gathers leaders to solve the world's problems, promotes Monsanto, the maker of RoundUp® and RoundUp Ready® seeds. Hugh Grant, Monsanto's Chairman and CEO spoke at the Clinton Global Initiative conference in September, 2014. Ms. Clinton's top campaign advisor, Jerry Crawford, was a lobbyist for Monsanto for years and is now the political pro for her Super PAC, "Ready for Hillary." Clinton spoke in favor of the government's Feed the Future (FtF) program, a USAID funded, corporate-partnered program that brings RoundUp Ready® technology to the most vulnerable populations of the world. Monsanto and Dow Chemical support Hillary and Bill's 'Clinton Foundation' with generous donations.

Last year, at a San Diego biotech conference, Hillary coached her audience in messaging. "Genetically modified sounds Frankensteinish. Drought-resistant sounds like something you'd want. Be more careful so you don't raise that red flag immediately."

It's also highly unlikely for Hillary Clinton to stand up against her benefactors, saying she favors a review of RoundUp, 2,4-D, and the even more toxic poisons used by farmers worldwide when she has friends in the industry telling her that they will "feed the world" someday with their agricultural methods.
