The icon being employed by the Romney campaign is extraordinarily close to the Routledge publishing company logo. It might be considered a copyright infringement.
Also, regarding the possibility that Koch brothers having bought Ryan's vice presidential slot. The icon Romney is using is a series of Rs, and might reflect the decision being made prior to the approval of the logo for the campaign. That might provide a suggestion for evidence that the deal was done some time ago.
Is there any evidence of others actually being seriously vetted?

(31,464 posts)Sure, there are similarities, but there are "similarities" between lots of logos. Routledge clearly uses a human face profile in their logo, with the sideways type, two elements not in Romney's insignia.

(22,308 posts)They don't look alike to me. No more than any other "R" in the world. If the word "Romney" was running down the left side instead of the red "R" then maybe. The fact that there is a "shadow" of itself off to the right isn't much of a resemblance. Routledge also uses human profiles for their R. Romney doesn't.

Remember when people thought that the new Pepsi logo looked like the Obama logo back in '08? They were off the mark also.
