John ELLIS: Big Media Is About To Pull the Plug on Gingrich

John Ellis, the Bush cousin who called election 2000 for W from FOX:

..............big snip

"The big dogs, of course, will keep at it. Dan Balz of The Washington Post and John Heilemann of New York Magazine won't be touched. But everyone who isn't a brand name political reporter is back on the leash. The army is already starting to demobilize as you read this. It just doesn’t know it yet.

This is how it ends for Newt Gingrich. On the day after the South Carolina primary, he had two busloads of reporters, bloggers and electronic media types following his every word. Tomorrow, he won't need two buses. He'll be lucky if the seats are filled on one.

Presidential candidates survive on the oxygen of media coverage. It's what keeps them going, enables them to keep raising money. Once the coverage is withdrawn, it's only a matter of time before their candidacies expire. Out of sight, out of mind, out of money.

After tonight, all but one of the GOP presidential candidates will start being taken off life support. By the time we get to Super Tuesday in early March, you probably won’t even remember Rick Santorum’s name."

2. But they also have no idea what they're talking about.

Because they also buy in to the AM radio squawker's version of
"government" media.

It's really a complex, corporate-funded (only a few big, big
media outlets left, thanks to the Telecommunications Act
of '96), government-partnered, 1% bought-owned-and-paid-for
infotainment swamp. Many, many more PR people than journalists.
They don't work for "government," they work for corporations.

But it is easiest to see it all in action when things you expect
to see coverage on -- go 'poof' into the news Black Hole.

They are there to sell commercials, not go on or off a leash.

Its like watching a car wreck in slow motion.

Sounds like the author is a Mitt stooge who is wishing it would all go away.

Cutting travel budgets lol, they are about to start chartering jets, they love this shit.

They loved it when it was Obama/Clinton and this is even more ribald and dirty.

Matt Taibbi in Rolling Stone on the Newt-Mint Odd Coupling:

They may be shit for choosing a good candidate for the presidency, but say this for the Republican primaries: They're fast turning into the most luridly entertaining political spectacle of our time. In an inherently conservative, bottomlessly moneyed, scrupulously stage-managed electoral system designed to preclude chance or weirdness from playing any part in determining our political future, the unthinkable is happening: real drama. This isn't part of some clever but inscrutable master plan, put on by the hidden hands who run this country, to fool or distract the masses. This is an unscripted fuck-up of heroic dimensions, radiating downward from the highest levels of our society, playing out in real time for all of us to watch. Our oligarchy has thrown a rod.

If you're not a conservative voter with a dog in this fight, watching Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul and whoever else is running for the GOP nomination this week try to hold on to front-runner status has been great slapstick, like watching a cruel experiment involving baboons, laughing gas and a forklift. No matter how many times you ring the bell, those poor animals are never going to figure out how to move that pallet of bananas - yet they keep trying, taking the sorry show from one state to the next, over and over, as if something is going to change.

Another sign of the strange-and-unusual, ranking up there with a unicorn or a griffin sighting.
This morning the twits on MSNBC's Morning Joe had former La. governor Buddy Roemer
(running for President as a Republican, but you'd never know it from the coverage he's
allowed to get) on as a guest.

They asked him, 'is government broken?' -- and without blinking or pausing, in plain view of the
whole national electorate, he said, "it's not broken, it's bought."

A subtle but important distinction.

You don't like what he does but you begin to understand how he thinks.

Each day stranger than the next.

Today Romney said "I don't care about poor people".

What can tomorrow bring? I hate dogs? No we already did that.

And the finale? Thirty states Fourty states.

Big media are not about to pull the plug on Newt - they already have.
Fox is a mouthpiece for Romney.

Carl Cameron has now deleted his tweet. But I got it saved.
Carl Cameron is the "chief political correspondent for Fox News"

Mebbe ABC wud like to run summat on Carl Cameron trying to keep a story under wraps to GOP voters?
ABC ran the original story.
Anyone got a contact in ABC?
I can let ABC have the copy and pasted tweet if they r interested. It's on Word document.

Might help to show up just how much Fox distorts the news.

Here is the link to the ABC story in case the link in the tweet doesn't work.

Bushes apparently are behind Romney. They use this John Ellis continually to plant stories and manipulate news.
