Cute title for an article. But it really says so much. Look at the picture.
Just Bernie, an empty stage, and two I assume musicians.
Sanders' Not-So-Katy Perry Concert During Iowa Campaign Swing
Not a word on any news TV that I saw, nothing. That's the way it has been, the way it will be. It speaks to the supposed inevitability of the opponent. That's the way politics is.
The crowd was about 2400, not bad at all. No picture, but at least a mention.
Democratic presidential candidate, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., speaks during a concert hosted by his campaign, Oct. 23, 2015, in Davenport, Iowa.
The night ended with the real rockstar the crowd had waited for -- Bernie Sanders himself. The Vermont Senator came onstage and asked the standing fans, How would you like to make history?
Because thats what were going to do Were going to have a grassroots movement that takes on and defeats the political and economic establishment of this country, he said.
That's a possibility, and I think a really strong possibility. Not going to be easy. Some of the largest political rallies in this country and ignored by all but a few local media.
I am supporting Bernie strongly. I watch all the polls posted here several times a day, and I realize that from now on polls will say whatever the pollsters want them to say except in a few instances. I am ignoring them because I think we are in uncharted territory. I think it skews polls because no one really has a handle on anything for 2016 yet.
Saw a post today that analyzes both parties and the chances of the candidates.
It's Time To Admit: Nobody Knows Anything About The 2016 Campaign
The old "rules" of presidential politics no longer seem to apply.
Democrats, too
Its not just on the Republican side where the old rules of politics appear to be just that: old.
.....Meanwhile, a 74-year-old socialist from Vermont with the personal touch of a hedgehog stepped in to fill the void, regularly drawing the biggest crowds of the campaign and building a lead in the nations first primary state of New Hampshire, where Clintons strength only months earlier had appeared close to untouchable.
Summertime dalliances with anti-establishment candidates are nothing new in presidential campaigns. But now, with New Hampshire's fall foliage at its peak, it has become clear that Sen. Bernie Sanders has staying power. Of the 680,000 donors to his campaign, only 270 have contributed the maximum amount, giving his campaign a veritable ATM machine upon which to draw funds.
....The trend lines of this election are clear: In the social media age -- a time in which authenticity appears to be the most prized commodity in a presidential candidate -- institutions like political parties and media arbiters of conventional wisdom matter far less than they once did.
After so many supposed experts have been so wrong about so many facets of the race, there's just about one certainty left: It's safe to ignore anyone who purports to having a firm grasp on whats going to happen next.
Amen to that.
Bernie's word war on the media and the corporate influence on politics are not going to be tolerated easily by those Powers That Be.
I'm in it for the long run, and I do not know what will happen. I was a Deaniac in 2004, and whatever the heck they call us Bernie supporters now....I am one of them, too.
I think there is no way to poll all the new folks coming into politics because Bernie Sanders is speaking out yet aware of what usually happens to candidates who don't toe the party line.
It's taking a chance time for me. I have already been stunned by allegations that Bernie and his supporters are racist....that didn't happen in 2004. A little in 2008, but not so pronounced that one suspected it to be organized.
There's a lot more to come before the primaries end. If the ridicule and racism is going to be a part of it, most of us are ready for that as well.
I intend to remember this paragraph from the 2nd link:
After so many supposed experts have been so wrong about so many facets of the race, there's just about one certainty left: It's safe to ignore anyone who purports to having a firm grasp on whats going to happen next.

And considering what all I've learned since 2001 on the internet, I know not to pay attention to what the media is prodding us to think. Their big interests are at stake.
Thanks, madfloridian! You always put a lot of effort into your posts.

(88,117 posts)muddying up the term "revolution" because it is not sedate and geared enough to establishment politics.
Well, guess what. When the entire "establishment" is going all out for one candidate, and the media overall is as well....then any kind of campaign must by nature be a "revolution".
It's starting to sound like 2003-04 all over again.

(88,117 posts)He also took aim at the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the free trade pact among Pacific nations that Mrs. Clinton recently came out against after calling it the gold standard of trade agreements while she was secretary of state.
It is not now, nor has it ever been, the gold standard of trade agreements, Mr. Sanders said. I did not support it yesterday. I do not support it today. And I will not support it tomorrow.
