2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIs there a connection between the massive campaign dollars and the incessant cheering for Hillary?
I think one would be naïve to think that all the enthusiasm for Hillary was honest and heartfelt. In this day and age, faux supporters and slanted polls are probably more important than slick television ad campaigns. But unlike the television ads, you don't really want to broadcast the truth that a lot of the "opinions" being thrown around in the social media are actually secretly planted campaign messages. And illegal, since these messages lack any acknowledgement of funding.
Where do all today's campaign dollars *really* go? There's a Pulitzer Prize waiting for the journalist willing to turn over that giant rotten log.

My interlocutor said if Elizabeth Warren would have run against Hillary Clinton she would have won the nomination. I merely pointed out the inefficacy of the word "if". Ron Jeremy owes his prolific career in pornography to his his above average endowment. If he had an average endowment he would still be a special education teacher in New York City, ergo:

And in that vein, if my uncle had wings he would be a bird.
Television, Despite your implication or inference I am not really into Ron Jeremy's work, at least not in the last twenty five or so years.
Reading is fundamental.

(27,815 posts)... that there is no enthusiasm for Hillary? I've read that here countless times.
So now there is enthusiasm, but it's not "honest and heartfelt".
How many such baseless memes will be posted before people accept that more people support HRC than BS? It's really as simple as that.
It happens every primary - voters choose to support one candidate over the others.
I don't understand why this simple fact eludes some folks.

(11,417 posts)so she could get some incessant cheering and more donations?
Hillary paid Anderson Cooper to rig the debate so she could get some incessant cheering and donations?
Hillary paid Joe Biden to drop out so she could get some incessant cheering and donations?
Hillary paid Rachel Maddow to interview her so she could get some incessant cheering and donations?
Hillary paid for the polls that said she won the debate so she could get some incessant cheering and donations?
Hillary paid everyone in NC to vote for her in the next poll so she could get some incessant cheering and donations?
Hillary paid people in NH to vote for her in the latest poll so she could get some incessant cheering and donations?
Hillary paid the people in IA to vote for her in the latest poll so she could get some incessant cheering and donations?
Does it make sense to pay someone so you get their contribution? How much is the net contribution? Let's see Hillary pays me 25 bucks so I will give her 50 bucks netting 25 bucks.

(27,815 posts)... giving away the game plan.
Obviously you didn't check off all of the boxes when you sent in your last HRC donation:
( ) Please send the check reimbursing me for my donation to the above address.
( ) I agree to fake being honest and heartfelt in my enthusiasm.
You apparently didn't read the fine print at the bottom:
( ) YES, I want the $1,000 bonus in exchange for keeping my mouth shut about how HRC is paying people to maintain her front-runner status!
Loose lips, sinking ships, and all that. Button it up, upaloopa!

(27,815 posts)They offer all kinds of cash reimbursement options.
I understand that contacting Anderson Cooper before the debate and demanding softball questions for HRC was good for a $10-per-call reimbursement.
BS was probably paying more than that per on-line clicks - which explains why he appeared to do so well in those particular "polls".
Sadly, the funds needed to pay off Howdy Gowdy was out of my price range. Only the Big-Buck donors had the cash-on-hand needed to "convince" him to hold Thursday's hearing. But it was money well spent, and I thank those who were able to pony-up the necessary funds.

What interest rate are we getting on our donations? Last quarter I got 50%.
NanceGreggs
(27,815 posts)You are such a schmuck!
I got 75% on my last - ahem - "donation", along with a thousand air-miles and dinner-for-two at the restaurant of my choice!
* Note on the dinner-for-two offer - they only covered three bottles of wine. We were charged for additional wine and pre-dinner cocktails, and got hit with a 50-cent "service fee" on any menu substitutions. Just so's ya know.

(53,035 posts)Is an impenetrable sense of entitlement that enables you to dismiss as fraudulent any view and life experience that doesn't mirror your own. Some people who have been members of this site for years support Clinton, yet you insist we are plants because we have the audacity to disagree with you. It is that attitude far too common among Sanders supporters that explains why their candidate has not been able to broaden his support base. No one responds favorably to such treatment. Quite the opposite, which is why you are losing supporters.
When I see people repeat time and time again that Sanders is the only candidate supported by real people, it shows how little respect they have for their fellow citizens, so little we aren't even people. It becomes impossible to believe such people care about equality when they show time and time again that they have nothing but contempt for anyone who differs from themselves.
This campaign has been going on for months, yet we see next to no discussion of Sanders policies on this site. Instead, the only thing people seem to care about is expressing utter contempt for their fellow citizens. And we learn it is not limited to the internet. CNN reported on the news that Sanders supporters are currently in Iowa heckling and insulting Clinton supporters. Not even the least politically astute person could possibly think that kind of behavior helps increase support for their candidate, yet they do it anyway. That toxicity will be the lasting legacy of his campaign.
You are not better than the rest of Americans, not by a long shot.
BainsBane
(53,035 posts)Bernie's not doing so bad himself. He raised $26 million to Clinton's $33 million last quarter. Yet I guess you think that $7 million explains the 26 point lead Clinton averages over him.
