So When Dems Fight Back, The Media Bemoans "Dirty Politics"

I lived through McGovern's, Mondale's, Dukakis', Gore's, and Kerry's campaigns when the Dems "took the high road" when they were attacked by Roger Ailes, Lee Atwater, and Karl Rove. The very same media lambasted the Dems as "weak candidates". Today, when the Dems fight back and don't apologize, the media bemoans the "ugly" campaign season.

The media is still working off an old script of how a Dem candidate should look and sound like. Bravo to Obama and his for not giving the media what it wants. For too long our Dem candidates sought the approval of the media over running a tough campaign. In the end, who gives a flying fuck what David Gergen thinks. Fuck him and CNN.

Latest column by Dana Milbank:

Forgive me, but I'm not prepared to join this walk down Great Umbrage Street just yet. Yes, it's ugly out there. But is this worse than four years ago, when Obama was accused by the GOP vice presidential nominee of "palling around with terrorists"? Or eight years ago, when Democratic nominee John Kerry was accused of falsifying his Vietnam War record?

What's different this time is that the Democrats are employing the same harsh tactics that have been used against them for so long, with so much success. They have ceased their traditional response of assuming the fetal position when attacked, and Obama's campaign is giving as good as it gets -- and then some.

It's cold and leads to nowhere most of the time. The Dems are meeting the bullies in the center of the school yard saying, "You want my lunch money? Take it." Then, they threw their fists up, and now Mittens and Company don't know what to do. A real fight was not in the program.

I was thinking about this last night when my husband had various news programs on, if Dems don't cower in fear of Republicans they are like the good kid that finally has enough and smacks the hell out of the bully and then gets sent to detention for fighting.

in fear.

They are right when they see that this is the worst they've seen it. Actually they should say this is the worst they've felt it. in all the other elections, Democrats got slaughtered taking the high road so of course the repugs didn't feel anything bad.

repugs are thugs, hypocrites, traitors (many are), and assholes.

No exaggerating, no histrionics, no yelling, no frothing at the mouth--just the plain, unvarnished truth.
