"SNIP.................................
Hes the cutest package that cruelty ever came in. He has a winning air of sad cheerfulness. Hes affable, clean cut and really cut, with the Irish altar-boy widows peak and droopy, winsome blue eyes and unashamed sentimentality.
Who better to rain misery upon the heads of millions of Americans?
Hes Scrooge disguised as a Pickwick, an ideologue disguised as a wonk. Not since Ronald Reagan tried to cut the budget by categorizing ketchup and relish as vegetables has the G.O.P. managed to find such an attractive vessel to mask harsh policies with a smiling face.
The Young Gun and former prom king is a fan of deer hunting, catfish noodling, heavy metal and Beethoven. Hes a great dad who says the cheese, bratwurst and beer of Wisconsin flow in his veins. Hes so easy to like except that his politics are just a teensy bit heartless.
......................................SNIP"

I'd take it all with a grain of salt.
At least for another decade or two.

(312 posts)Dick Chaney feeding a leak to the New York times saying that, "CIA Reports show that Weapons of Mass Destruction might be in the Middle East." New York Times went with it.
Next day, Chaney cited New York Times as legit proof on why we need to invade the middle east.
But then again, it is Chaney. Maybe New York Times isn't the one at fault here . . .

Dowd treated us to derision of Al Gore and his 'earth tone' suits.

(718 posts)Charles Pierce of Esquire Magazine coined that description of the prick that is Paul Ryan. We need a bumper sticker.

(34,475 posts)Who wrote that lame ass book "Young Guns"? Christ on a cracker, all of them are over 40 & Cantor's almost 50. THAT'S young?!? They are't even middle aged any more. How many men live to celebrate their 100th birthday?
Get real. Is that the best they've got?

(2,983 posts)Maureen Dowd, is, perhaps, not the best of all people to be talking about heartlessness.
