Mormon undies

Just saw a clip of Paul Ryan with Romney. Ryan was wearing a T-shirt underneath his shirt. Has he always done this or is he pretending to wear Mormon undies?

Since they aren't outside for long stretches, the t-shirt absorbs perspiration that would otherwise show up as pit stains.
