Obama Will Respond To Medicare Attacks In Iowa
PEMA LEVY 11:00 AM EDT, WEDNESDAY AUGUST 15, 2012
President Obama will push back against charges made by the Romney campaign that he has cut Medicare benefits for seniors, his campaign told the White House pool.
"The president will talk about how his reforms have strengthened Medicare, saved millions of seniors on Medicare hundreds of dollars on their prescription drugs and cut the cost of Medicare by cutting wasteful spending out of the health care systemwithout impacting the benefits Medicare recipients receive by even a dime," Jen Psaki, traveling press secretary for Obama campaign, said Wednesday, previewing Obama's upcoming speech in Dubuque, Iowa, according to the White House pool report.
"And he will lay out the choice between his plan and the Romney-Ryan plan to end Medicare as we know it, leaving new retirees with nothing but a voucher in place of the guaranteed benefits they rely on today. This kind of plan forces people with Medicare to pay an extra $6,400, all so Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan can give tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires."
The president will speak at 12:25 p.m. CDT.

Keep it up! Don't let a single lie go unanswered. Push back!
Nothing better than seeing Democrats with a spine who refuse to up with the absolute nonsense that comes from Rethugs.

We need a massive Letter to the Editor campaign in every city to highlight:
a) There are not "cuts" to Medicare under Obama. These are cost savings with no reduction in benefits.
b) The Independent Payment Advisory Board determines payments to hospitals, not benefits for retirees.
