Related: About this forumIf Biden gets into the race is it better for Sanders or for Clinton? And why?
It certainly doesn't seem like it would be a good thing for Clinton, since Biden's entry into the campaign may cause some of her supporters to leap ship. But would they leap ship to Sanders? If so, why?
I'm supporting Bernie, but I have a concern that Biden getting into the race hurts Bernie's chances in my state (Virginia)

(11,785 posts)On one hand, it hurts Bernie because the media will be wall-to-wall Biden vs. Clinton coverage. On the other hand, Biden is more likely to peel off voters from Clinton than Sanders, which shows that her support is mushy.

(8,732 posts)More of a negative for HRC. Having lived a long time in VA (now moved to west coast) I'd have to say it would hurt HRC more in a purple state. It is more like for like and it comes down to preference and opinion. Enough so it could be a benefit to Bernie in purple areas of states.
As long as Bernie continues this momentum and HRC and Biden can't create enough differences, it could give Bernie the edge.
The biggest "X" factor is the impact of a PBO endorsement for Biden, which is a given since its his friend and VP for the last 8 years. I think that could shift mainstream DNC support and be a serious negative to HRC. Could also leave many members in Congress embarrassed at their very early endorsement of HRC. Also a factor to consider.
