Clinton Gives Commanding Debate Performance
(United WorldNews Daily) Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton dominated the stage at last night's Democratic debate, the first of several planned in the coming weeks. Questioned on a wide range of issues, Clinton appeared poised and confident, cementing her position as the front-runner in the race for the Democratic nomination.
Deftly addressing such varied topics as gun control, abortion rights and income inequality, Clinton demonstrated a command of the issues and a clear ability to lead.
Clinton even took time to engage in some light banter with moderator and CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, laughing about rumors that the so-called "email scandal" reveals her as the famed "Nigerian Prince" of the long-running email phishing scam. "Next, you'll be asking for my birth certificate," joked Clinton.
Clinton's performance was praised in numerous online polls that showed her with a decisive double-digit lead over most of her opponents.
CNN, the media conglomerate hosting last night's debate, dismissed suggestions that its coverage favors Clinton at the expense of other primary contenders, several of whom appeared opposite the former Senator from New York. Bernie Sanders was also on the stage.
Readers of this forum already know my opinion of Sanders' chances in the primary and, by extension, the general election, but CNN's soft-balling of Clinton is getting ridiculous even to me.
