(12,081 posts)With all the support he is getting from the people, the argument that a democratic socialist cannot win has been blown out of the water.

(12,081 posts)had talked more about how he is the only candidate who does not have a super PAC. I do like how he gave himself a plug there at the end though. That was funny, and a good reminder. It certainly spurred me to donate again after the debate was over.

WHEN CRABS ROAR
(3,813 posts)Now is the time for a real progressive populist movement, but the message needs to be clear and not overly complex and it needs to be repeated over and over to drive it home into the minds of the people.
Then Bernie will win.

(41,600 posts)she's still in it. The actual VOTERS,WE THE PEOPLE, chose Bernie as the winner by a HUGE, OVERWHELMING margin, but the CORPORATE OWNED MSM must push their Corporate Owned candidate, Hillary. It's disgusting to watch how blatant they are we're told not to believe our lying eyes (and ears) apparently.

It's up to voters to separate honesty from bullshit.

Of course, they also said Carly Fiorina won the Republican one.

(23 posts)Bernie was great, especially in our eyes, but Hillary has those kinds of one-liners that can blow up an audience. Plus the DNC debate head works for Hillary, Cooper is a member of the Clinton Foundation for crying out loud. That being said, many people saw Bernie and his message for the first time. That could do a lot of good.

She is also an expert at dodging a question
She has perfected the non-answer
She actually turned a question about gun control legislation into a boisterous attack on pro-lifers / defense of planned parenthood to thunderous applause...still didn't answer the question and AC quickly moved on

In November 2003, Howard Dean was the clear frontrunner for the Democratic nomination - Dean had 29%, Dick Gephardt had 21%, John Kerry was at 15% and John Edwards was at 8%.
In October, Gephardt was at 27% and Dean 26%
In December, Kerry had dropped to 9%, Dean was at 26%, Gephardt at 22% and John Edwards at 5%.

(41,600 posts)work. No one cares. If the greedy Wall St., Big Oil, Big Ag, Big Pharma Capitalists hadn't been so greedy by having to have it all, more, more, more, me, me, me - perhaps things would be different. Since CAPITALISM has obviously failed and everyone knows it, that "Democratic Socialist" tag is looking pretty good to them.
People know Bernie. People know he's good. People know he's served in Congress for 25 years. They know he's not some loony communist hell-bent on destroying this country.
Sorry folks, you're going to have to think of new angles to attack Bernie because the people seem to like what they heard.

(2,574 posts)And his record. He's got to "defang" that simple minded attack. Cooper," a Vanderbilt heir," as Patton Oswald tweeted, attacked Bernie for being a socialist! Also threw in a couple slurs about "honeymooning in Russia' and being a conscientious objector. Bernie seemed caught off guard, maybe because of the personal honeymoon reference. (It was actually one of those mayoral sister cities delegation so many mayors took in the eighties)
Time for Bernie to mention that the American working class is already massively financing socialism for the rich without enjoying any benefit from that. In our currently rigged system, corporate profits are privatized and hoarded offshore but corporate losses socialized & thrown onto the American working class to pick up the enormous tab. For example our socialized economy for the elite supports a tax code that rewards money making money over honest labor; this legalized corporate tax evasion greatly handicaps small businesses trying to compete with tax subsidized corps.
Bernie also doesn't need to stretch so often to Nordic countries to explain the benefits of Dem Socialism, where taxpayers actually enjoy enormous benefits from the taxes they pay. Medicare and social security, despite 75 years of Republicans and the wealthy trying to dismantle them, are easily understandable and respected examples of government programs that work for everyone. Their only financial challenges come from the wealthy and corporations driving to minimize their automatic contributions, which is why we need to scrap the cap for both millionaires and corporations.

(5,275 posts)As opposed to Hillary, Wall Street, the Defense/Security Complex, all that Big Business plutocrat money comes with strings attached.
Legalized bribery, but Bernie is getting his cash from we the people, no Super Pac money.
