NY Times: Romney campaign carefully choosing speakers for convention (major snubs!)

LOL all these "base" favorites are getting sent to the kids' table outside of the main event and away from the cameras please, not that they are ashamed of them or anything!

TAMPA, Fla. — Newt Gingrich hoped to get a coveted speaking slot at the Republican National Convention. Instead the Romney campaign will have him teach a series of workshops they have nicknamed Newt University.

Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain are not scheduled to speak, either. They have decided to stage their own mini-convention of sorts — calling it a “unity rally” to dispel any doubts about their party loyalty — at a megachurch about 20 minutes outside town.

Gov. Rick Perry of Texas is trying to be a good sport about getting passed over for a speech. “That’s not my call to make,” he said in an interview this week. “The convention is for Mitt Romney, not for me. Not for Newt, not for Marco Rubio, not for Chris Christie. It’s for Mitt.”

There are hours and hours of speakers, many of whom who will not even get much airtime. In '04, after the bitter primary battle between the Democrats (which mirrored this one), Dean, Kucinich, Clark, Sharpton - they all spoke. Most those speeches didn't come during the coveted primetime slots. The fact Romney isn't even letting Bachmann speak during the day, when most aren't even watching, says something.

they have nicknamed Newt University." You can't make up this crap. I can hardly wait for the pictures of Newt "teaching" a classroom full of empty chairs. But my guess is that these images will be strictly controlled - unless Newt goes off the reservation, then they will be released.

8. Trump is going to be very disappointed if he doesn't get his own "university" like Newt.

Maybe there will be a workshop called the "Cain Mutiny."

And here I thought it was the "Republican National Convention." Did I miss something?

So ends the Republican party. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until the people that vote for them realize that the party has been bought by the Koch brothers and big Pharmacy. Well, limited to the variable of their propaganda wing: Fox News.
