Former Colorado Gov. Dick Lamm is expressing concern about Hillary Clintons candidacy amid the controversy about her handling of classified emails as secretary of state suggesting there is a good chance it gets worse and costs her the Democratic nomination.
In reading a recent New Yorker piece about how retired Army Gen. David Petraeus and former Bill Clinton aide Sandy Berger pleaded to misdemeanors for divulging classified information, Lamm said all the sudden it dawned on me theres an FBI study out there.
The three-term governor and his wife, Dottie Lamm, are close to the Clintons. Though often outspoken, the Democrats thoughts on the race offer an insight into the nervousness among partys leaders regarding the 2016 election.
What are they to do? My poor wife. Weve know the Clintons weve served with the Clintons. Dottie and Hillary are really very close and shes just shattered, Lamm said in a recent interview with The Denver Post, published in Sundays edition. He quickly added that his wife is not discouraged and still very much on board.

(10,274 posts)Gov. John Hickenlooper on Thursday became the latest Hillary Clinton supporter to express doubt about her candidacy for president, telling a Denver audience that the 2016 election is kind of grim, to be blunt.
Unlike most Republican candidates, Hickenlooper said he believes Clinton has the necessary background needed to run the country.
But, he added quickly, I dont know where this whole thing is going to go in terms of her
(e-mail) server and whether there is something in there that is really going to turn out to have broken the law which I think would be the death knell.
His remark reinforced the anxiety Clinton supporters in Colorado are feeling given the constant controversy regarding how she handled classified emails as secretary of state. And he represents the second top Democrat in Colorado in recent days to voice such concerns.
