2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumhello, my name is Hedgehog, and I suffer from snatch defeat from the jaws of victory syndrome.
I've seen Democratic candidates beaten or been cheated of election victory by the likes of Nixon, Reagen, Bush1 & Bush 2.
I'm still pinching myself to make sure Obama won in 2008.
Can my country hit the jack pot twice in a row?

(2,514 posts)i was so emotionally invested in 08 it would have broke my heart if that one was stolen... i'm cautiously optimistic this time... yes i want it with my soul.. knowing if we loose it will be because of voter suppression, rigged machines, and unlimited money terrifies me..
this time i want the Senate, and take back the House also... hope i'm not setting myself up...

(63,912 posts)was nominated and got all that applause. My friend said she broke down crying hysterically and her husband had to comfort her. One couple I ran into at the Madrid airport was taking a trip to Spain because the husband was obsessed with the polls and his wife said "Enough! We're gonna take a trip out of the country to get you away from this!"

(94,757 posts)No matter what you think of the Republicans, the bottom line is that Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Gore and Kerry (and I worked for all of them) did a lousy job campaigning.

(90,061 posts)I think you'd have to go back before Wilson. If you want to focus on irrelevant patterns, focus on that one.
On the other side there are Hoover, Nixon, Ford, and Bush the Elder, all ejected from office.
