The Hill: OMalley: Clinton email controversy threatens to define Democratic Party
I believe that there are a lot of legitimate questions still to be answered about this particular controversy the email, the email server, the FBI investigation and the like, OMalley said on CNNs "State of the Union.
Its so important that as Democrats we start having debates about other issues as well, OMalley said. Im not saying there arent legitimate questions to be answered here by Secretary Clinton, but for our part as a party, we need to talk about the things that will actually get wages to go up rather than down, that people care about around their kitchen tables thats why we need to have debates.
Otherwise, our party is being defined by Hillary Clintons email scandal, and its not good for our country, he added.
I came out against the Keystone pipeline over a year ago. Why? Because I believe its contrary to our nations best interests of moving forward to a clean energy future, OMalley said.
Thats what real leadership is about, he continued. Thats the sort of new leadership were looking for. Not the sort of leadership that waits for poll numbers or focus groups or puts a finger in the air to see which way public opinion is going. No, thats not leadership.
Ehhhhh ... ok so I agree that the core issue of using a private server is a real problem for reasons of government transparency. But defining the entire Democratic party? I don't see it.

(23,664 posts)Unfortunately, in 21st century America, thanks to Bill Clinton and the Telecommunications Act of 1996, perception is reality and the media will pick up this canard and repeat it ad nauseum.
By the time of the election most Americans will believe all Democrats are as dishonest as Hillary Clinton.

(3,431 posts)O'Malley, follow the path that Bernie takes. Go
start rallies and talk about the issues. Keep talking
about the debates.
We cannot allow the e-mail issue to be the defining
one for this country.

'The Democratic presidential hopeful spent the weekend as he often has over the last three months, speaking to audiences of 30 to 75 Iowans in backyards and coffee shops, as well as a Sunday stop at the Latino Heritage Festival in Des Moines. . .
He leads the Democratic field in the number of days spent in Iowa. . .
he expects his retail politicking to pay off after being asked in an interview with The Des Moines Register whether he plans to change his campaigning style in response to the polls. The success of his campaign's efforts is shown by endorsements from a dozen county party chairs, and he's visited at least 40 of Iowa's 99 counties, he said.'
