The man's an idiot. If he gets into office the US will have the entire world in arms.

The reason why no president has ever done this is because it would run counter to wanting Middle East peace. This would be a provocation. Arab states would go apoplectic.

What a stupid thing for Mitt to say. But if he believes this, I am glad he said it. It shows how reckless his policies really are.

I can see where that would be problematic (to put it mildly). Mitt out there trying to pull a "McCain" and be a "maverick" or something?

but it is grating to a wider, more sane audience grounded in the real world. I think he is always surprised that the rest of the world isn't like FOX news.

His comments on Jerusalem should create a big stir. They are very inflammatory and show his ignorance in that he seems unaware that he is even saying something controversial.

Also, many of his comments are extremely anti-Muslim. If you combine this Jerusalem policy with his lament over the fact that "Muslims" were elected in the Arab Spring countries, I think he has a big problem. This really anti-Muslim rhetoric may play well in GOP-land, but the rest of the world finds it disgusting. Denying Jerusalem's place as a holy city to Islam and the importance of the status quo of the divided city as a show of respect of this fact is another aspect of this.
