Related: About this forumJoe Biden, The Anti-Bernie?
I was sitting here enjoying a cup of coffee and perusing the interwebs when I saw a headline about Joe's wife saying something to the effect, let's do this thing. I began to wonder, perhaps it seems obvious. The establishment needs to knock Bernie out of contention. They have probably looked at Bernie's supporters and determined they could pull a small amount away from him,(they would be wrong I believe) using the unelectability meme and secretly pushing Joe to run. The other part to this is the possibility of ensuring that no matter what, Hillary Clinton gets in the WH. Joe if he gets the nomination selects Hillary Clinton as vp. Bernie would never select Hillary Clinton.

I don't see us electing Joe as President.

(12,081 posts)He doesn't have the same record of fighting big money interests. Economically he is more in line with Hillary.

(5,937 posts)Who would Biden hurt the most. The crazy meme about Bernie and his supporters being too white and too elite yada yada made me think that perhaps they think Biden is an antidote to this. Of course I think the claim is ridiculous but let's look at who started making that claim. But I suppose that all in all Biden would hurt HC the most.

And, I think, if he does, it'll be a 3 way race which will give Bernie a better chance of winning.

(5,937 posts)It was when I thought that if they want to make sure HC is in the WH at any costs, how would they go about that and that is what got me thinking about the motive for a Biden run.

(62 posts)and actually will make way for Bernie to capture the lead and remain there and secure the sweep of all delegates from IA to Super Tuesday states, denying Clinton any delegates she needs for the nomination. At the same time, her superdelegate endorsements will begin switching to Bernie soon after first two states are done and delivered all of its delegates to Bernie.

(62,683 posts)Hillary is DNC, Joe isn't. Joe is far more liberal than Hillary or Obama. He's more like Bernie that he never took donations/meetings with lobbyists because he didn't want it to influence his voting.
He's not Bernie, but he's not Hillary, either.

(24,689 posts)For sure he wont criticize Hillary but he could take some subtle jabs at Bernie. That could greatly benefit Ms Clinton.
