Obama to sign Israel security bill on eve of Romney visit

President Barack Obama will sign a bill to strengthen U.S.-Israeli military cooperation on Friday on the eve of a visit to Israel by his Republican presidential challenger, Mitt Romney.

Obama will seek to stress his commitment to Israel's security for American Jewish voters at a White House ceremony that appeared timed to upstage Romney, who has accused the president of undermining U.S.-Israeli ties.

1. Great timing

though I'll bet $10K that we'll be seeing Republicans all over the news networks complaining about upstaging their nominee and that it was "politically motivated" (duh, what isn't?). They won't be able to criticize the actual substance of it, however, because Romney would sign it if he were POTUS and it doesn't feed into their narrative that President Obama "hates" Israel and/or is "weak" on "defending" Israel.

was on it first thing. Joe Lieberman, of all people, set her straight. I bet she thought she had a sure thing going after Obama with old Joe. It appeared she was at a loss for words for a moment after getting an unexpected response from him. Took the wind right out of her sails. I love it when that happens.

Of course Repubs will call it politically motivated - as if Mitt's trip to Israel were not politically motivated.

I can't wait until reporters start asking Mitt about "Obama's Israel security bill"! Not that I expect straight answers from him, I just think the questions will annoy and frustrate Mitt, which I will find amusing. I'm petty like that.
