Why we need more debates and why we need them now.

The Republican Party is framing this election. For them the election is now about going to war with Iran, Obamacare and Planned Parenthood. These people are a bunch of hateful foaming loons, but they are being treated by the debate hosts (CNN for example) as if they were reasonable people espousing reasonable ideas based on actual facts.

The people watching these debates are not seeing any alternative narrative, nor are they seeing what actual reasonable people look like. The Republican Party has gotten 6 hours of free nationwide airtime to present their horrific lunacy to the american people. The Democratic Party has decided to sit on its porch and do nothing.

With no alternative narrative we risk ceding this election regardless of who the candidate is. Our party will, instead of being able to create a narrative for why voters should vote Democratic, be endlessly stuck explaining why the planned parenthood video was bullshit, why the Iran deal is actually stopping them from building a bomb, and why the ACA is working. We are going to be fighting their battle on the turf of their choosing using the weapons they have selected.

Stupid fucking idea.

Every time they have a debate they embarrass themselves, becoming a laughingstock to the world, and comedians gain an hour more worth of jokes.

ETA: That being said, I'm for more debates.

While it may feel nice to sit back and condescend to those on the "other" side of the political spectrum , the fact is that side is getting their message out there while the Democratic party sits back and won't even try to counter their points or address the issues for the Democratic field .

It makes no sense giving them all this air time with no counterpoints to present . I smell a rat in the ranks .

It doesn't matter if they lie, it doesn't matter if WE know they're lying. By being able to say what they're saying (see what Carly Fiorina said about the Planned Parenthood videos) without opposition, it gives those talking points extra credibility.

You can dismiss them as idiots, but their minders and handlers actually know what they are doing.

Republicans are getting tons of free ad time. People actually watch the debates to find out about the candidates. Dems are making a huge mistake.

that there are many drones who will take the word of their neighbor or something they heard on talk radio or they "liked someone" in the gop debate. people who just might be open to bernies message or om message are going to be enthralled by someone in the clown car. we are going to lose general election voters that we will not get back, all because the anointed one is being protected by the hacks at the DNC. It is very sad. A candidate who is so weak that she can't even debate her party rivals is not gonna be a good president and is not gonna be able to win a general election. but as I've said so many times, the DNC doesn't care they rather throw it to a Republican than see a real progressive in the White House.
