Question(s)

Since Bernie Sanders is an Independent, not a Democrat, does the Democratic party have any authority over his participation in debates or other campaign activities? Is the DNC chair, whoever that might be, empowered to invite or include anyone who is not a party member?

To clarify: Near as I can tell, he is still not registered as a Democrat.F

Okay, rephrasing: Does the FEC have any rules about candidates' membership in the party on whose ticket they are running?

Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Lincoln Chafee, Martin O'Malley and Jim Webb are officially in the
presidential race. Make sure we elect a Democrat in 2016.

Where these same questions put to him at that time?

(My understanding is Vermont is a bit different with party affiliations)

is has declared on his statement candidacy form that he's running in the Democratic primaries and caucuses. While Bernie has caucused with the Democrats, he is registered as the Independent US Senator of Vermont.

There is no constitutional party test, parties make up their own rules but those rules aren't laws.

No, it is just a regurgitated anti-Bernie meme created by neoliberals who are trying to drive progressives from the party and fill those places with Republican converts.

Trashing this puker op.

He cannot "register" in the Democratic party. It is the same is over 30 states that don't have provisions for registering as a party member. My own state, Texas is one. I am a Democrat but I am not a registered Democratic voter. Texas and other states have open primaries where anyone can vote in any party primary. You cannot vote in a runoff of another party than the one you voted in.

The N.H. law that a candidate must be a registered member of either the Democratic or Republican party must be selectively enforced as there did not seem to be a problem for Dr. Dean, LBJ, Rick Perry, and little man George to run in N.H. since non of them and more are not "registered" as per their law.

Even Lydon LaRouche ran as a Democrat several times and I think he is as much a Democrat as Karl Rove.

for the information and for the considerate way in which you deliver it.

I was asked a question by someone new to the process, and I wanted to give the most accurate answer. So, for clarity, I asked here. Silly me.

Again, thank you for the courtesy.

I haven't taken sides yet in the primary race.

The rancor of some of the various supporters have not and will not entice me to there candidate rather I have been struggling with my spiteful nature which would love to thumb my nose at them. As to questions about Mr Sanders eligibility to run as a Democrat since he is the independent Senator from Vermont, I have no doubt that he can run. I do have questions about the New Hampshire law that only allows those "registered" in the Democratic or Republican party to be in their primaries. No one seems to have answers. If the N.H. Secretary of State does not let Mr. Sanders run in the Dem primary then I must assume that they enforce their law selectively.

Thanks you for you kind reply.
