Sanders is the story. So Tweety puts on Howard Dean an Jennifer Grandholm to explain it.
"Don't worry that angry little Sanders man will go away soon."
Jezus.....Nothing to say but the Oligarchy Rules.

(3,457 posts)Tweety kept hammering that point. Howard Dean did not take the bait, and in fact said he the same as Bernie.

(9,089 posts)That whole bit was just dripping with bias. __ck MSNBC!
Bernie will win it, in spite of them.

(12,655 posts)to make the case that bernie is a "socialist', i thought he was going to give himself a hernia.
neither one was buying, despite being hillary supporters.
and kudos to dean, who said repeatedly that bernie is just a progressive dem, and that even the socialists in europe aren't even socialist anymore by the dictionary definition.
sigh.. no one wanted to play... i thought matthews was gonna cry

This stuff drives me crazy.

(9,610 posts)Support of fascism on a democratic forum drives me crazy.
Agschmid
(28,749 posts)When you manage that let me know.
Do you even understand the meaning, and history behind that word?
PowerToThePeople
(9,610 posts)Expain to me how being a tv personality that supports status quo corporate agenda makes one not a fascist.
Corporatism is nothing but pc terminology for fascist. I prefer the more acurate descriptor, for it still holds the negative connotation that corporatist glosses over.

(28,749 posts)Here is he Google definition of the word:
Again a TV Media Personality is NOT this. Not even close, all these posts a just drama.
Drama, drama, drama.
Throw around some key words, act angry, throw someone under the bus, call them a pig.
It's ridiculous, and it's all I see now. Name calling DOES NOT effect change... Just FYI.

(9,610 posts)Sorry.

(28,749 posts)Okay so what's your definition, the one you made up to fit your narrative?
It's all you've got, and it ain't much.

(28,749 posts)I'll circle back when I'm not on my phone and argue the points from that website.
That source is a bit wacky but I'll take it on when I get home.

(9,610 posts)The souce is not whacky. Phd on the subject matter. But go ahead and attack the source.
Agschmid
(28,749 posts)My plan is to go point by point and show you how out of touch with reality it is to call Chris Matthews a "fascist pig".
Again just not going to do it from my iPhone.
Also remember you attacked my source too, so all is fair here.
Do I need to quote you to remind you...
Something like "Wiki Newspeak"? Remember that?

(28,749 posts)And you called me out on it... so?

(28,749 posts)1. Powerful and continuing expressions of nationalism. He doesn't wear flag pins.
2. Disdain for the importance of human rights. Clearly supports human rights.
3. Identification of enemies/scapegoats as a unifying cause. Avoiding R propaganda and denouncing it.
4. The supremacy of the military/avid militarism. Clearly doesn't support it.
5. Rampant sexism. Beyond the simple fact that the political elite and the national culture were male-dominated, these regimes inevitably viewed women as second-class citizens. They were adamantly anti-abortion and also homophobic. These attitudes were usually codified in Draconian laws that enjoyed strong support by the orthodox religion of the country, thus lending the regime cover for its abuses.
6. A controlled mass media. He strays from party lines all the time, that's why both the left hates him and the right. Sure his show is controlled by MSNBC/Comcast so I will agree on this point.
7. Obsession with national security. Here he is questioning activities of the NSA, and showing IMO disapproval of their actions, and IMO the "covering up" of the actions by Congress.
8. Religion and ruling elite tied together. Here is speaking out against the actions of one of the largest religions in the nation, and at the same time supporting women's rights by supporting abortion.
9. Power of corporations protected. Calls buying a politician "absurd" clearly he doesn't support Citizens United, specifically calls our Koch's and Adelson.
10. Power of labor suppressed or eliminated. Since organized labor was seen as the one power center that could challenge the political hegemony of the ruling elite and its corporate allies, it was inevitably crushed or made powerless. The poor formed an underclass, viewed with suspicion or outright contempt. Under some regimes, being poor was considered akin to a vice.
11. Disdain and suppression of intellectuals and the arts. Intellectuals and the inherent freedom of ideas and expression associated with them were anathema to these regimes. Intellectual and academic freedom were considered subversive to national security and the patriotic ideal. Universities were tightly controlled; politically unreliable faculty harassed or eliminated. Unorthodox ideas or expressions of dissent were strongly attacked, silenced, or crushed. To these regimes, art and literature should serve the national interest or they had no right to exist.
12. Obsession with crime and punishment. Most of these regimes maintained Draconian systems of criminal justice with huge prison populations. The police were often glorified and had almost unchecked power, leading to rampant abuse. Normal and political crime were often merged into trumped-up criminal charges and sometimes used against political opponents of the regime. Fear, and hatred, of criminals or traitors was often promoted among the population as an excuse for more police power.
13. Rampant cronyism and corruption.
14. Fraudulent elections.
