I need some context clarification

Tonight on The Ed Show one of the guest said calling Obama un-American was no different than Obama calling Bush unpatriotic.

I say there is a big difference. When Obama called Bush unpatriotic it was for exploding the deficit with tax cuts and two wars. Remember for 7 years before that we were call unpatriotic if we questioned ANY thing the Bush administration did. This was a term very much in the vocabulary because we were all being called unpatriotic.
When Obama is called un-American it is in the context of the birth certificate, Socialist, Communist, Fascist and Muslim conspiracies. It has elements of Joe McCarthy and his Committee on Un-American Activities. The term un-American is considered about the worst insult you can make toward any American much less the President.
The point being made is the term un-American is code for all of those conspiracy theories and in essence black.

For me there is a big difference between calling Bush unpatriotic and Obama un-American.

Have I missed something or am I just too bias to look at this from a rational point of view.

I am not sure if it was before or after he was the nominee. I checked that first thing.

our debt to China. If one does something to enrich another
country at the expense of their own, "unpatriotic" seems an
appropriate word to use IMO.

racial backgrounds, whereas calling Bushco unpatriotic was due to his admins not living up to a set of base expectations for the presidency.

or said another way, one is based on race, the other on policy.

the attacks on President Obama are personal, and have been used in the last two elections to paint a picture of someone who is "not like us" as in "Kenyan," "Secret Muslim" "terrorist sympathizer (that was Palin's actual term about him in 2008.) It's a personal attack.

The comment about it being unpatriotic to enrich another Country at your own Country's expense, was about a action, not the person.

There is NOTHING that President Obama or Senator Obama or Candidate Obama has said that would ever, ever, reach the depths of the names he's being called by people who are IN office, as well as Romney and his surrogates. You know, like Senator Rubio today saying "Obama sounds like a left wing 3rd world leader" An actual Senator said this about the sitting President, and the media didn't even blink.
