But the whole movement behind Bernie exists specifically because so many people do NOT believe 'they are both good candidates'.

That one of them represents all of us, while the other first and foremost represents the rich, and the rest of us are considered 'noblesse oblige'.

This is the primary. For now, each is 'the enemy' of the other. Only one can win, and the other will lose. Proclaiming that we must not 'cannibalize ourselves' is merely a way of proclaiming we should accept the status quo candidate, and not point out the flaws with that candidate that make the 'upstart' a better choice for NOT having those flaws.
