Drudge claim: "ROMNEY NARROWS VP CHOICES; CONDI EMERGES AS FRONTRUNNER"

Willard's pal offers some of his original "reporting" as his top story (I'm not linking to him):

Late Thursday evening, Mitt Romney's presidential campaign launched a new fundraising drive, 'Meet The VP' -- just as Romney himself has narrowed the field of candidates to a handful, sources reveal.

And a surprise name is now near the top of the list: Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice!

The timing of the announcement is now set for 'coming weeks'.

Well, if that's the case, make no mistake about it, Mittens is running to be Bush III and the wants to finish the GOP's job of destroying the country

I thought she said "Hell, no?" http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505267_162-57460324/condoleezza-rice-says-no-way-to-vp-for-romney/

(CBS News) Condoleezza Rice is not interested in being Mitt Romney's running mate.

In an interview with "CBS This Morning," the former secretary of state said, "There is no way that I will do this," when asked if she would accept a position as the No. 2 on this year's Republican presidential ticket.

"Charlie, I didn't run for student council president. I don't see myself in any way in elected office. I love policy. I'm not particularly fond of politics," she told host Charlie Rose, adding that she thinks Romney has "terrific judgment."

Pressed on whether she would turn it down if asked, she said, "I'm saying there is no way that I will do this, because it's really not me. I know my strengths, and governor Romney needs to find someone who wants to run with him."

I heard someone calling it the "Rice a Romney" ticket, which was funny, but Condi has too much baggage. IMO.

When top Romney sources speak out, I generally reverse the message and expect the opposite. Unfortunately, I do the same whenever Drudge sounds off.

Between these two competing fuck-ups, my only logical conclusion is to hedge my bet and doubt that such a person named Condi Rice exists, but also to note that if she did exist, she definitely isn't not the VP.

Picking a member of the Bush administration would mean Obama could run against George W. Bush again and bring up all the problems caused during those years.

And Rice is the person who is partially responsible for 9/11 happening since she ignored the warnings Richard Clarke sent her.

On top of that she would not increase Romney's support among black voters or women, wouldn't help carry a particular state, and she has no elected experience of running a campaign before.

And then there's her personal life. Will a woman who has never been married or had children and is rumored to be a lesbian go over well with the socially conservative base?

So I think the whole story is baloney. I think it's just like Romney claiming Rubio was being vetted even though ABC's Jonathan Karl reported that he was not. He wants to make it look like he is being inclusive to diversity by floating these names out there before he picks a middle-aged white male.

No way in hell Romney isn't going to pick a solidly anti-choice #2. He's got enough trouble with the base on his own track record, there. He'll need to placate the crazies.

CIA Documents Confirm that Bush Administration Ignored Repeated Warnings about Osama bin Laden Attack Plans

Friday, June 22, 2012

Seven newly released intelligence documents have revealed that the Bush administration ignored multiple warnings prior to September 11, 2001, about planned attacks by Osama bin Laden.

The CIA papers contradict assertions by Bush administration officials that they could not have predicted the attacks that killed thousands. In fact, President George W. Bush was on vacation for an entire month, from August 3 to September 3 and never met with CIA director George Tenet.

That would be a gold mine of opportunities to remind people of the political, foreign policy, and economic disasters of the George W. Bush "lost" years and how Condi was in the thick and thin of it, particularly in regards to 9/11 and Iraq.

The best reason for Condi on the ticket is actually a good thing for America. If Condi is actually picked, I don't think we will ever see a serious presidential ticket that is not mixed-gender. We will have had back-to-back women on a Presidential ticket and I think the public will expect this going forward. That's a good thing.

It also would be a boon for Democrats of course. Condi would depress the tea bag express faction of the party as they are committed to racism and blocking out the George W Bush years from their feeble minds. Condi is the "face" of the inept administration and her actions leading up to 9/11 will be center stage once again. Right now, Obama had the advantage on terrorism and foreign policy so he and Joe Biden would destroy her in comparison. As for the economy and jobs, she offers nothing.

Sadly, I don't think Romney has any intention of picking her. This is just a head fake to take attention away from Romney committing white-collar crime (re: lying to SEC and ethics board).
