2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDoes Joe Biden Really Have a Chance?
Rick Klein: Agita does not necessarily mean an opening. Thats an important distinction to Vice President Joe Biden, as he considers a run that would inject high drama and countless new storylines into what was supposed to be a march dictated by inevitability for Hillary Clinton. We know Biden would bring name recognition, deep experience, and a zeal for running that couldnt be matched. We also know that hes 0-2 in presidential races already, and that his own worst enemy tends to speak for himself literally. There may be no moment thats more favorable to a potential Biden candidacy than this one, with Clintons email controversy interrupting the summer only by the utterings of Donald Trump.Thats different, though, than a grassroots yearning for Biden. When it comes down to it, hes neither generationally nor ideologically all that distinct from Clinton. That means the differences would have to come in tone (check) and, pretty quickly, where he seeks out divisions. Biden is not a natural intra-party attacker, and that could very well be what it takes to defeat the frontrunner.

(40,416 posts)1. The better question is "Is Biden going to run?"
I may be wrong, but I think not.

So that certain other Democratic candidates are probably dreading his entry into the race. Fortunately for them, he's to much of a gentleman to reveal anything.
Any negativity that crops up in the Democratic campaigns will come from one camp. Hopefully it will come back to bite them in the ass.

(337 posts)3. They're overthinking it, imo
The average American voter likes who they like. They don't get into ideological debates with their peers.

If he wins the primary, he has my vote and my support. With Clinton, I'll probably ring the bell for her on election day, but I wouldn;t be able to donate any money. I already pay serious interest on a Citigroup credit card, so she's receiving my unwilling monetary support ayway..
