Would it actually be possible to swiftboat Romney?

I use the term swiftboating in its original definition of a campaigning technique whereby an opponent's greatest strength is used against them, as in the attacks on John Kerry's status as a Vietnam war veteran as opposed to the chickenhawk Bush (the term has since come to refer to pretty much any negative campaigning). But what IS Romney's greatest strength? "He's not Obama" seems to be the best that even his supporters can come up with.

The Obama folks are apparently doing a fair job of "Vulture-boating" him already, with no need to tell lies.

into a race touting falsehoods.
The publics susceptibility to such tactics most always pays off.

doing a great job of swiftboating him. That is, they take his claim that he created jobs and showed where he destroyed jobs. His business career is now suffering. The destrutction of jobs here, the outsourcing to China, show that romney has done just the opposite of what his campaign claims he does.

Now, if we could only find a mistress who will step forward...preferably one with his illegitimate child...hmm...

I know psychopaths often have big appetites, including sexual appetites, but Romney seems the type who would keep his desires in check because his whole life revolves around his political career. Still, who knows, eh?

The swiftboat stuff was a bunch of bullshit lies. Everything unflattering thing that has been said about Robotney has been true.

They would have already destroyed his campaign. Democrats just aren't as ruthless. Mittens should never be running close in any national election.

12. I think the Obama campaign has done a pretty good job, without resorting to lying

I'm not one of those milquetoasts who think Democrats should always take the high road and refuse to hit their opponents where it hurts due to some naive notion of purity. But they need to have some boundaries, lest in fighting monsters, they themselves become monsters. The truth about Romney is bad enough, no need to make shit up.

13. The Obama campaign's ads against Romney (re: Bain)
Wed Jul 11, 2012, 09:46 AM

seem to be turning his main selling point- jobs/economy- into a negative. If by "swiftboating," you mean this, then it would seem that it is indeed not only possible but already happening. Of course, the ads regarding Romney and Bain are, thankfully, based on truth and facts rather than the malignant lies perpetrated against John Kerry in 2004.
